traffic program setup - HOW?
traffic program setup - HOW?
Reading PCM manual and getting puzzled - page 26 in description of how to set it up refers to page 23... Page 23 then refers to page 26. German humor?
Have anybody got it done? Is it that I just need to choose one of AM stations and assign it to traffic info? Will it interrupt CD playback automatically if any announcement is happening there?

You need to get the feed from the radio stations, and as far as I know there aren't any cities in NA that have the traffic info sent out.
I rented a Cayman in Germany in 2008 and used it, very cool system, as it shows all the traffic with little arrows, and when it is at a complete stop they are red. It allows you to plan alternate routes around the stoppage that was created by a little car that crashed while doing 125mph

Traffic programme just causes problems, esp in MA. My 06 would suddenly switch to a Reggae station, when it was on.
I guess it's ok if you like that kind of music. I just leave it off on my 09, no traffic info is supplied!
Many PCM's were mistakenly exchanged out until they realized that TP was causing the problems, years ago.
When there was a Nav update last year, it was aluded to that the update would allow TP to become active here........ NOT!!!!!!!!
Subsequent information on that update ceased to advertise it, as well as log book and route trace, you thought you were also getting, with that update!
PS, you just check the box to turn it on/off

About german humor, one of the shortest books ever, along with italian heroes, french victories and british recipes...
The problem you have is that Traffic Programme (TP) doesn't do what you think it does. TP reacts to a side-band signal in properly equipped FM trasmissions... though I'm not sure if AM can also use the system. It reacts to RDBS data to change to the station transmitting a traffic report, and then should change source back.. Problem is, in the US there is no real support for the RDBS system (for a host of reasons detailed in another thread having to do with the road network layout, limited alternate routes, the way radio is run, etc)
TP works great in Europe.. in North America.. not so much. I just turn it off because I know that even if Seattle had a station that provided the service, the quality of the traffic reports would be less than usefull.
