My '05 small mirrors auto dim on both sides.
Doesn't matter I suppose if you have the parking sensor option but nothing beats turning your head!

Actually, the big trend is that auto manufacturers are moving the side mirrors from the "sail" (forward corner of the side window) to the location further back on the door, like where they used to be years ago. This reduces wind noise and esigneers knew this for many years. The sail location was strictly for styling.
