Need a winter vehicle / dog car...
she BIG... 100lbs and only 10 mo. If I was just lifting her into a reg truck, no big deal, but i have a 7"lift on my truck, so i have to lift her above my head. Im going to test drive both... i feel like I shouldn't be comparing the two as one is 28 and the other is 36....
Tow/dog vehicle? I like the diesels from VW (Toureg), BMW (X5), Mercedes (ML320CDI), etc. Buy em used and save a lot, get good mileage towing (relatively speaking of course), and good every day vehicles. I believe the BMW tows 6000 lbs and the Mercedes pulls 7,200 - both with the factory hitch (much lower aftermarket). I don't know the VW rating. Cayennes pull well too, but no diesel, and the Audi may be worth a look.
We ended up with an '08 ML320CDI and it is great for towing and for the dog.

lots of options offered up so far, but I have to say, for tiny $$, my 01 grand cherokee (limited, v8, loaded with nav, leather, heated) is the perfect winter / dog hauler. I have a 65 lbs american staffordshire and he jumps in no prob (have a 2 in lift). Its easily one of my favorite cars

Audi A4 Quattro wagon or Subaru WRX wagon are both great choices. Your dog should be able to jump into the trunk with no problem.....unless you dont mind your dog on the seats, in which case the sedan works also.

Have to agree with you! My dd is a 04 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland with everything, love it! Only complaint is that it loves its gasss
My wife's A4 wagon is unstoppable in the snow with the blizzacs (hers is an 'early '05 with the 3.0 V-6 with manual). Germanic feel and plenty of room for your dog and other gear. The 2 liter turbo motor in newer models is terific and the S4 will give you the power you might crave (although at the cost of poor miles-per-gallon of premium fuel). Highly reccomend.
You can tow with landcruiser, and you can tow with F350. I`ve seen 996 cars towing cup cars to the track. Everything is relative.
I would never buy a truck, it is just not my type. Yours preferences may be different but if you decide to get F150 - better get a tacoma instead. No one of my co-workers with F150 were happy with quality. Chevy used to be king of trucks but these days whatever domestic car you pick it seems to have issues.
Wife`s manager got 08 cherokee and it already had almost everything broken in it, he goes to dealer almost every month to fix one thing or another, windshield washers, passenger front window motor, something electrical in dashboard, he curses about it constantly. You say yours is fine. Go figure.
