Unbelieveable II

I don't know how to start. I told you in an earlier thread about my dealer ordering the wrong model 997 vs. 997S. Then the dealer found another car comparably optioned and was trading for it. I was told Friday, 12/10, the car would be shipped today and I would have it Friday 12/17.
Not so fast! Dealer called this AM and said the east coast dealer they were trading with sold the car over the weekend. Parktown Imports, my St.. Louis dealer wanted to order me another car today, no idea when it would be in. MISERY.
I walked in to the dealership this PM requested my deposit and trade value and said GOODBYE!
They said if I would give them one more chance I could buy this car and any future purchase at $4K over invoice. Too late.
I called a dealer in Boston with a basalt black S that has everything I want except the color and am sending him the check FedEX tonight.
I told Parktown if I went forward with their order the next story would be the boat sank.
This has been an unbelievable saga and were not done yet.
I have removed all sharp objects from proximity!

Root,

Don't buy the car if you don't like the color! Wait for
the right one, you;ll be alot happier IMO.

I agree with Roy on this one. Dude, you waited a long, painful time for that car, get exactly what you want. Everytime you see one like you wanted, you'll reget it more, probably end up taking a loss on it later.

I spoke to the dealer in CT who had the Slate Grey I wanted. He told me the car had not been sold and that Parktown blew the deal by pulling the Turbo S and offering their next S allocation. The Parktown guys flat *** lied!
I was offered the Slate Grey for $3500 off sticker and also was offered a Basalt for $3500. off sticker from a dealer in Boston.
I thought about it this AM and have decided to go with the Basalt. Two reasons ; the basalt lookjs a little richer to me and the car has the 19" Carrera Classic wheels which I prefer over the lobster forks.
I'll post pics. next week when it gets here.(fingers crossed)
I am going to write PCNA a letter about the dealer here in St. Louis . This was an absolute cluster f--- and they lied on top of it.

Glad you're getting what you want. "Dealer lied"? Are you kidding?

Unfortunately, dealers lie. Not ALL dealers though, and hopefully you've hooked up with one good one. I know a good number of ethical, stand-up guys who have been selling Porsches for years. What a shame that a few a-holes like you dealt with spoil the bunch.

I just wriote a long letter to Wendelin W. in Stuttgart about my saga. As a fellow CEO I don't think he wants customers treated the way I was in this deal.
I called Parktown and told them about my letter. There is much weeping and nashing of teeth in that dealership tonight.
I hope none of you fellow PAG customers have to got through this BS to pay $100K for a car.

You think so? Other than making you feel better, I'll bet your letter has little effect on the dealer or Porsche. You ended up buying a 997 anyway. I highly doubt the letter will ever reach WW. I tried this a few years back when I was experiencing major problems with a '99 cab. I sent a letter to the CEO of PCNA. Do you think I even got a reply? NO! What did I do in turn? I've bought 5 Porsches since!

Worked for me. I wrote the chairman in Germany after many tries at getting my '99 fixed (airbag light issue, one of the first ones). Gave him a detailed rundown of the issues, the dates in for service, what was done, etc. Never 'raised my voice' if you know what I mean.

Made damn sure the letter was in Stuttgart about a week later, and THEN I sent a copy to Fred Schwab, then Prez at PCNA.

Within a week I had a call from an engineer in Germany, he flew to the US to deal with many issues, mine one of them, and within about 2 weeks, my problems were resolved and PCNA went the extra mile to keep me happy.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But it worked well for me.
