Hi Rhonda thanks for your information.
I´ve seen the videos and find the sound to be too loud for my taste. Is it possible to have a sound closer to stock? even if that´s means a loss of power? I prefer to have REAL 25HP gains and more discret sound.
I believe the poster said it was possible to have a sport sound option, instead of the racing sound option, which was the one in his car, is that correct? Thanks in advance.

I am the poster with full FVD system and ECU flash.

A. There is a dyno chart on FVD's site. That is what sold me. The gains are across the powerband. Seek and you shall find, this has been no secret.

B. FVD can build the system in any configuration and db level you want. If you go too quiet, you must trade off some HP/TQ due to back-pressure, yes?

C. Drone on these cars can be a BIG problem. I had a different system on (which I won't name, they resolved the issue to my satisfaction) and drone under load at 2200-3000 RPM was so severe it distorted my and my passengers voice when we tried to talk and felt like someone was massaging my scalp due to the resonance pressure waves in the cabin. The FVD system has zero drone.

D. FVD has a switchable system for sport/quiet with a solenoid activated flap. A bit more in cost and complexity but true total control over sound level.

If I drive gentle, my system is not loud or a cop attractor. I have been at stoplights many times with LEO next to me and I have never received a dirty look. The system matches my aggressiveness on the throttle with aggressiveness of the sound and db's.

Anybody that has heard the car, and is an enthusiast, always says how good it sounds. If you have the awesome good fortune of getting it on a closed course and put it in Sport Plus, the sound is pure unadulterated auditory heroin. Too much is not enough

First cold start of the day is loud for approx 20 seconds (as it even is stock).

I have no doubt, at all, that FVD's power claims are 100% true. FVD is one of the very few aftermarket manufacturers who's claims I actually believe and trust. As I noted in my posts, I was able to confirm my butt dyno with DynoLicious software (look it up). The power is there.

If you seek power, quality and sound then FVD is an excellent, no, the choice. The long tube headers and 200 cell cats and ECU flash are where the power is.

Mdrums,

Our horsepower gains really begin around 4,500 rpms and max out (423hp) at 6,500 rpms. So the 38hp gain is at 6,500 rpm's.

What is of even greater importance is our torque gains which are consistent across the entire rev range. FVD Brombacher is focused on mid range torque with Hp in the top end for successful track days as well as excellent useable power on the streets.

Please see the gains below with the dyno sheet (I apologize for the PS & NM but they translate to Hp & lb. ft)...

Level 3 Tuning
Max. Power - 311kW (423HP) @ 6500rpm
Max. Torque - 460Nm (339lbf ft) @ 4500rpm
Max. Speed - 310km/h (193mph)
Max. RPM - 7700rpm
Acceleration 0-100km/h (0-60mph) - 4.1s

Here is a link to this kit on our website....

Hope that helped to answer some of your questions.

Thanks,
Rhonda

07speed,

There is no need to modify the intake, the 997.2 intake is excellent from the factory. We do however just drop in 2 BMC sport filters as you will see in our level 3 kit found on our website....

Save your $$ on an intake and put it towards suspension as this kit with a coil over set up is downright evil at the track and on the street.

Thanks,
Rhonda

J.Seven,

Your most welcome for the information, that's what I'm here for.

You can have ANY sound you want. Factory is close to 85 dB. Our quietest system is our TUV version, it does not exceed 93 dB. But it doesn't mean any auditory fun for you whatsoever.

If I may suggest, even the "sound versions" are built to be "discreet" until 4,000 rpms. Perhaps you can live with a 93 dB until 4,000 rpms and then go to 98 dB's like yrralis1's system. That sounds like it would be perfect for your needs.

A system that does not exceed 93 dB will not provide you with any enjoyment. TUV systems are far to quiet.

Thanks,
Rhonda

J.seven,

You may want to look at this post as well.

I was actually in Germany last february when FVD Germany was tuning our Brombacher 997.2 PDK show car.

Here is my original post on our developments....

Thanks,
Rhonda

Hi Rhonda, thanks for the reply post. I was not saying FVD did not make good power I was just wondering where this system made power.

Right now I am researching 6 point seats and so forth that will fit me. Maybe next year I will get your system.

mdrums,

No worries, I was just trying to give you all the info so that you could see where the system made power.

Thanks,
Rhonda

Perfect what I was looking for...I got lazy and did not search far enough on your website. But while on your website I did find the new BMC air filters for my 2009 Carrera S. My stock filters look really dirty so I will be ordering these soon. Thanks!

I have the FVD Sport Muffler (Export/Loud version) on my 2009 Boxster S and I couldn't be happier. Fantastic sound with absolutely no drone and my "butt dyno" is telling me that I am getting every bit of the +11HP and the +10TQ (across the entire RPM range) that their website promised. In fact, I am so happy with it that I am going to put an FVD system on my 2009 997.2 C4S. I currently have the Fabspeed X-Pipe with the Fabspeed Maxflo Side Mufflers and it just isn't loud enough for me (nice set up but just too much of a "Euro sound" - too mellow/higher pitched/refined). I am looking for something more aggressive and the newest FVD system I just ordered is a slightly different approach. It is the FVD Sport Side Mufflers (Export/Sound/Loud version) but it totally eliminates the the Center muffler and doesn't replace it with a center muffler delete like the X-Pipe or a Crossover Pipe. Exhaust comes out of the Headers/Cats and goes directly to the side mufflers and then out to the tips. No center muffler/delete piping (and thus some weight savings) and a better/deeper sound than their Sport Side Mufflers with the non-merging X-Pipe. FVD says it will give +15HP/+15TQ and that TQ is reflected evenly across the RPM range. Anyway, apparently I will be the first person in the US to get this particular system and I should have it next week and once I get it installed I will do a full report. I am excited!!
