floor mats over gas pedal!

Everytime I get into my car it pushes the floor mats up and over the gas pedal and behind the clutch which makes it really awkward to drive, and dangerous. Any special tips or tricks to get these guys planted on the floor!!! The tape that holds the velcro on keeps folding over and wont stay no matter what

Are they factory mats? Mine have a gripping hook velcro-like pad screwed (or somehow strongly attached) to the floor. That back of the mat has the loop patch - probably sewn on - it is difficult to get them up to clean under - they don't budge.

Steve, they are factory.. mine have the something "screwed" into the floor as well with velcro on it, and then the mat themselves have velcro taped onto it which keeps folding itself over and sucks! hook and loop would be much better, i wish!

My last car (non-P) had the same issue...

Time for new tape.

Clean and vacuum the mats, thoroughly dry them out, then get some new velcro tape on them. (If you don't clean the mats, then the tape won't stick.) To help keep the curved parts of the mats more rigid, you can also use a car restoration trick - apply a few coats of spray-urethane to the underside of the mat. (make sure you air out the mats for 48 hours). The urethane will help make the mat more rigid.

BTW ...but are you 100% sure your mats are in correctly? And are they factory mats? Mine (bose-flavor) fit like puzzle pieces...they are keyed left and right and have a tight tolerance, so it is almost impossible to get them installed in the wrong spots.

RyanJ is infamous around these parts
If the mats are tattered to the point where the velcro strip isn't sticking, you can get them for cheap at SunCoast Porsche. (My set even came with extra velcro, too.)

I like the MacGyver 'urethane' recommendation. You would make Richard Dean Anderson proud.
