Not true. I've done it 2 or 3 times on my two 997.1 cars with my Durametric. A normal "short test all modules" or "clear faults in all modules" will not do it. As I recall, you have to go to a non-intuitive section or module. I usually do a search and refind the instructions each time since it's so infrequent.

I happily stand corrected! I'm excited to try this and get it cleared. Any hints on what to search for? I could never find it.

Courtesy of semicycler on Rennlist. Instrument Cluster Module then Commands. I've never had to pull a fuse for it to take, but maybe in some models you do.

Get a Launch x431 on Ebay. Used it on my 997.2. Works great for about $50.

About 5 yrs ago, the dealer forgot to reset the service indicator on my 2006 Carrera. I went back up there and the salesman just pushed a couple of buttons while starting the car. It reset with no software, devices, etc. I wrote down what he did (I watched him do it there in the parking lot), but now I can't find my notes.

Yes, there is a pushbutton procedure, but the one posted elsewhere does not seem to work; perhaps a question of timing.

I do not think it works, but here it is:
How to reset oil service light Porsche 911 Carrera.
1. Press inward on the trip odometer reset button and turn the key to the auxiliary position (forward one click from the off position) until Oil Service Re or Oil Service Reset appears on the odometer monitor.
2. Depress the odometer reset button a second time until the work Reset or Re appears on the monitor.
3. The message Reset or Re will continuously flash.
4. Push the odometer reset button quickly to complete the reset.
5. End SIA appears to indicate a successful reset of the system.

Hi- I just tried it and no luck on a 2006 997.1

I got the car used and the light was 20,000 to the foot on showing up. My private dealer reset it and candidly I will be looking to get a cheaper solution as I've only used the dealer for adding my second key for $100. Nice folks but I do my own work. Unfortunately the durametric needs windows to work and I'm an Apple guy.

Cheers!

Just get an iCarsoft POR V2. It is made specifically for these sort of resets for Porsche vehicles. I have one and it works just fine.
