What are the reasons to buy a C4 instead of a C2?
btw - I've picked up that lots of boys in here love the looks of the "wide hips and fat ***" Combined with the V-S clear-bra discussions, topless cab driving, and discussions on nice lines.. it makes me wonder if you subconciously think of your cars as your private dancer/ enslaved aerobic instructor mistresses.
As mentioned,
Handling & wide body lines.
I have no weather issues here & still preferred the handling to the 2S.
Guess I'm not the driver most on here are.
Fun driving to me is fast, safe driving.

AmyLynn, very funny. You've got me nailed....if only the headlights on my Targa were just a little more substantial....
As for the AWD vs. RWD...for the most part, my car handles like it is in RWD mode. There is very little power going to the front wheels. Even when it is wet and rainy, I can induce a slide if I want. C4 and C2 are are both fun, and capable...but the AWD C4 is handsdown better in the snow and rain.

This is all very amusing.

In fact if one looks at a Lamborgini Gallardo or Maserati Gran Turismo these cars are downright sexy but I wouldn't give them a second thought because they lack the essense of what Porsche has for me.
From the moment I drive the Porsche off the lot I feel confidence in its total package from how it drives, to how it will take where i need to go , and when it breaks as all machines do --it can be fixed with detailed instructions guiding the Porsche doctors (technicians) .
Other cars might be the poster fantasy but Porsche is "the one" for me .
Took my C4S that has dedicated winter tires for a nice spirited drive yesterday on wet (not icy) curvy roads. Grip on the corners felt like mozarella on a hot iron skillet....and oh AmyLynn we are not subconsciously thinking of food all the time

911 = Sexy time (a la Borat)
I always though that the ad for the cadilac where the woman asks "The question is, when you turn your car on, does it return the favor?" was done for the wrong manufacturer. Like really, who the he'll gets turned on by a Cadillac?!
My 9 does return the favor. Maybe even two fold...

When I told my husband I was going to buy a 911 to replace my beemer SUV, he guided me in the 4S direction. I never even test drove the two-wheel drive version. We get lots of snow and rain in our hilly neighborhood... (The '4' was a must have for us...the 'S' was nice to have, although not completely necessary.)

Great points listed above for the 4 or 4S, I got my 4S (sold for the GT2) for the same reasons...first P-car and thus wanted something more planted, poor weather performance, and the visual impact of the wider rear. However after I got the car (and especially after driving the 2 and 2S at the PSDE) began to regret that decision, in that I had a hankering for the lighter front end and slightly more communicative steering of the RWD 911. Also, I ended up never driving the car in snow (though it handled great in the wet) and from what I understand the 2 and 2S do well in snow w/ winter tires given the weight over the driven wheels.
Bottom line, try and do an extended test drive of both AWD and RWD 911s back to back and decide based on which driving characteristics you like best.

I think that we get as much or more rain then any other region in North America, and a C2 is just fine in the rain. I don't bother driving it in the snow, as I don't have snow tires, and there is no way that my C2S will be better then my Touareg in the white stuff. We normally don't get too much snow, so I still get to drive my car all year round.
As for handling, on a dry day, I doubt that a C4 will be able to take a corner any faster then a C2, on a wet day they are a little faster.
