Chroming exhaust tips??

Hi guys, I don't have chrome tips on my '08 C2S. Question is, could I get them chromed by a shop or do I have to bite the bullet and buy OEM chromes? If the former, does anyone have recommendations for a chrome shop in the LA or San Fernando Valley area? Thanks in advance!

I've considered the same thing. There is one chrome shop in town that a friend of mine has taken motorcycle parts to for chroming or re-chroming. I don't know what they would charge for a set of tips, but I'm doubting that they would be as expensive as a set of OEM chrome tips.

The problem you'll run into with chrome plating your exhaust tips is that they may discolor over time. Chrome typically can't withstand extreme heat without "blueing".

I'd suggest going with a nice polished tip instead. It will give you that nice high polished look, but will outlast a chrome finish in my opinion. Here's a pic of our polished tips. Retail price is about $400, and you get to keep your OEM tips so when you sell the car, you can transfer the nice ones to your next Porsche.

Those tips look great. My discolored (actually really dirty) tips are really bothering me right now

I just bought a 2005 CS and the tips looked kinda dingy. They are stock, a brushed stainless finish I like very much. I used some metal cleaner and scotch brite pad, cleaned them to a shine and coated them with Rejex. They look great now.

On another note, this is my 15th post! Now I can finally add a signature and PM other members. Yahoo!
