Extended Warranty - EasyCare
Extended Warranty - EasyCare
Sorry
I know this topic has discussed before. My car factory warranty is good till end of Jan. 2010. I'm debating if I should get extended warrant or not. One dealer is selling Continental ($3000), and the other is selling Easycare ($2000). For Easycase, they would require a oil change from them prior getting the policy.
Does this mean I cannot do my own maintenance if I go with extended warranty?
Any experience would be helpful.
Thanks

I just bought 5 years of easycare for my club coupe.
They need a full inspection of the car before they let you buy the warranty. The reason is to pick up any pre-existing problems and get them fixed by the remaining factory warranty.
It just happened that my car was due for oil change that visit, so I have the dealer do them all at once.

There is no one set price for EasyCare. You can choose your term length (and max mileage), your coverage, and your deductible. I got 2 years with lots of miles and a $100 deductible.
I bought EasyCare from my dealer, and since they sell it, they have stong leverage with EasyCare over coverage. If you've got a good service dept at your dealership, and a good relationship with your advisor, they can make EasyCare work really well. In fact, I ought to give them a call and look into extening my coverage.

As has been posted before, Easycare prices ARE negotiable; I'm familiar with several dealerships where the F&I guy, not the service mgr., is the one selling them. You pick your mileage, length of time, coverage and they'll show you the price in the book. At that point you can make an offer since the dealer is getting 25-35 % of the 'book price'.
Not arguing with any other responders but I've never heard of a car needing an oil change or inspection IF it is still under the factory warranty. In July, when I purchased mine (06 911s) the car was 1200 miles away.

EasyCare service contracts and dealer inspection process
Easy Care service contracts require the dealership selling this coverage option to complete a detailed inspection, from my experience this inspection is done while the car is under factory warranty. Therefore, if any issues arise, they are fixed under the factory warranty coverage and then easycare can be purchased. It kicks in 30 days after the factory warranty expires. Obviously, the company hedges their bets with this process. I have it on my Range Rover HSE. I am leaning towards a similar service contract from them for my Carrera 4s.
I've also heard that Easy Care is negotiable when purchased through a dealership. I was recently quoted $4500 for a 4 year, no deductible, full coverage policy.

Just a repeat of what I wrote here 10 weeks ago, perhaps for the benefit of new readers.
NO inspection needed, perhaps since I bought it from them. I'm not recommending him, but if you want the dealer's name and # just pm me.

I too am interested in this ...it would help if people can post rates(assuming you dont mind), type of coverage and length of contract so we can what to shoot for while negotiating...so is Easycare the way to go?
