Should I or Shouldn't I.....
PSE is cool - worth 2-3K. So its really $12K. 30,000 miles plus 1.5 years of warranty. Do you like Black more? Its a tough choice.
Its very tempting but I'd say no. In 2 years time, the difference would likely not be $15K. Only thing the newer one really gives you is peace of mind with the warranty + PSE. You could probably buy an exhaust and warrnty for less than $15K.

Hard to read YOUR thoughts, but I do not hear the excitement I'd expect with a possible new purchase, so I would tend to keep what you have - you LIKE it.
I would throw out however, that in 2 years, your present car will not give you much at all on a trade.

Sorry sir, but I fail to see any logic in this transaction. Of the $12K delta or so, you'll lose probably at least $10K in 1 year of depreciation.
Moving into a 997.2, GT3, Turbo, or something of significant difference to your 997.1 would make sense. It would cost you a lot more, but the incremental gain may make up for it.
So yeah, here's a virtual slap in the head for you!

That's kind of where i'm leaning. This came out of the blue.
My buddy is moving to the UK, wants to sell me his car and actually came up with a buyer for mine (his brother) There always the chance if i was serious I could negotiate the delta down.
The only real thing that intrigued me was the mileage/resale in two years. The lack of warranty on mine doesn't bother me at all
The question is will the '07 be worth 15k more than my '06 in two years when I trade my car in.

....+1
I'm pretty much decided on the 'i'll pass' side unless the deal becomes a super duper stellar one (maybe $500
)
I really like my C4S, it's paid for and in reality I'll be really happy if if can get about 40k either private sale or trade in 2 year which i think i can get close to (at least in the Canadian market)
I will have the expense this summer to replace all 4 rotors & pads
but even that won't put a dent in the 15k
thanks for the input everyone!

Look at both cars and disregard the model year, which one makes your heart beat faster, the black or silver? Then think if the warranty would make you sleep better at night. Higher mileage cars tend to have something to go wrong. In the long run, lose half of the $15K that you put in when you trade. But between now and then, if it gives you the peace of mind and the extra pleasure of owning it, it's money well spent. That's just my 2cents.

HI,
Never own a NA996-997 car without any warranty!
Remember, your IMS is ticking,,,,,tic tac tic tac...
If i were you, i would sale the car, save the 15000$ + the money you get for your car, wait a year or two, and buy a DFI 911 with factory warranty and no dam IMS. You can use all that money for a nice down payment.
Its not "if" your IMS will let go, its "when"!

Whether right or not, my decision didn't have much to do with me using the warranty, more with the resale in two years, and more, the fun factor for the next two year. I have to admit i prefer black, but not for 15k
I've owned a few 911's and never had any major issues, even my 996 went to over 65,000 miles and my biggest expense was the air/oil separator
As of this morning i've told my buddy i'm passing on it, so unless he comes back with a deal i can't refuse i will keep enjoying my car regardless of how much mileage i rack up over the next couple of years, I've had to remind myself over the past couple of days that this is not an investment......

I added atr911 to my friends list.
