997.2 (2009) (Non S version) VS. (2007) S version

Apparently I made a typo in my initial thread, but am currently looking at purchasing my first Pcar and have been going back and forth between a 2007 S version and a 2009 non S. the HP numbes i have seen look to be 345 non S and 355 S. which would be the better car? overall and performance? thanks to all

With respect... a little online research is your friend.

There are a myriad of differences between a 2007 997S and a 2009 997. Straight horsepower is but one comparison.

Think about depreciation, think about upgraded electronics, think about a longer factory warranty...

And how do you define "a better car"? In all likelihood... if you're like most of us... a basic Boxster is more P car than you can safely use on the streets. So if ultimate magazine racing is your goal, there's better way to spend your $.

^^^+1 on what Da Hapa said.

We need more information on what you want out of the car. Can't fault you as this is your first P-car Here are some attributes to consider when developing a matrix to compare an '07 vs. an '09, including the good points raised by Da Hapa.

* Daily driver, or weekend toy?
* Will you track it?
* Importance of warranty length
* Extent to which you'll mod (for performance)
* Value to you of having newer electronics, engine, etc.

Will for sure be a weekend toy. Not looking to track it probably ever but would be interested in mods (TPC Turbo maybe) Are there major reliability differences between the two? As far as the electronics go, i am more in it for pure driving pleasure than the unecessaries. I have the ability to pay for service/maint. so I'm not sure if the warranty period really is an issue. I am looking for a car with 10k miles or fewer. Overall I would say the main value for me is comfort (full leather) and engine performance/handling. Budget is $75k

With a budget of $75K, you should be able to get one of the remaining 997.2 C2S's. They are hard to find, but still out there.

You're in luck good sir. $75K is enough for an '09 S, sub 5K miles, well equipped. Many dealers still have their heads in a cloud on asking prices, but seek and yee shall find.

I responded to your other thread asking the same question. FYI, I just helped a friend find and buy a brand new 09 C2S with MSRP of about $102k for $79,900 including delivery 500 miles away. Some great deals out there for sure and the 09 C2S (what I own) is really an amazing car.

If you are looking to super charge, why even consider a C2 or a C2S. Find yourself a factory forced induction car - an early 997 Turbo.
