How many of you use as your Daily Driver ??? 911 cab or coupe
My daily driver (2008 E350 with the amg package) lease is approaching and I am looking for another car. I drive 45 miles each way (in south florida so driving is on a FLAT highway
I really like my car but it is time for a change. I had a 02 996 C4 cab as a third car and then I got the bug to get a ferrari (now the ferrari is the 3rd car), so I did and sold my c4.
I am always on the phone (bluetooth) and use the NAV and SAT radio all the time.
SO my questions is, how many of you use your 911's as daily drivers ??? I would have to get a tip or a PDK depending on which year I get because my wife can not drive a stick. Not sure if I will get a cab or a coupe.
My wifes daily driver is a Mercedes s550 so we have the car pool kid car covered (2 girls 4 and 6 years old) and I really do not have anyone in my car for business.
thoughts ???

I have used my Porsches as daily drivers but currently with 4 cars I don't.
If I lived in Weston instead of Miami I woild drive my Turbo every day. The general parking , the overall roads makes it a better envirnment. Also the lowest common denominator of bad drivers seems to flock less to your region --although it is far from exempt.
I had an 07 E350 replaced by an M3 . There are certain creature comforts of these types of cars but I don't miss the Mercedes at all and the BMW does get more mileage than the Porsches --but that's changing lately . I have selected the Porsche more often lately.
Things like the phone and such are not an issue. I think the biggest issue is parking . Since the Porsche has hips people seem to miscalculate opening a door giving more ding exposure potential.
Another issue is theft but Weston is pretty good . I've parked my car at the Athletic club for three hours and did not worry at all . I would never feel the same level of comfort parking in Miami.
Also my vote goes for coupe -PDK.

I have a 2S for DD. Difficult to say mileage per day as I have to drive around my town everywhere. Comfortable, gear/clutch work is effortless, there's power when you need. The only compromise would be lack of trunk space. But I guess we all know that! I had an M3 as DD before my 2S and I found M3 harsher than 2S.
I have never used my 911 as a DD. however when i bought the C2S PDK,
it was so overwhelmingly good I have now employed it as a DD.

C2S cab and would love it to be my DD, but my commute is 25 miles each way. Today, I drove it to the office and hospital, errands and clocked 80 miles. I usually drive it 2-3 days per week. So, far 7400 miles in 10 months!
Proud to say that after being involved in concours competition and consequently for over 30 years always finding a paranoid reason NOT to drive my Porsches, I have FINALLY gotten over it (mostly).
I bought my 997 two months ago and decided I was going to enjoy it and drive it. My commute isn't too bad traffic-wise and I have underground parking at work with decent spaces to avoid dings. So on sunny days, I drive. Part of it is the 997 is much happier at normal commuting/driving speeds than my other Porsches. Another part is, compared to a final year (1998) low-mile (15k when I sold it) 993 S car or final year (1989) low-mile (25k when I sold it) 930 Slantnose, my 2005 997, though also low mile (14k when I bought it) is at much lower value-impacting risk today than the other Porsches were. It's basically a nice car vs a high-value old Porsche that could loose thousands in value with a single ding (check the pics links in my signature).
It's gonna depreciate anyway whether I drive it or not so I'm going to drive it and enjoy it.

'09 C2S as DD. Not as comfy as my previous DD an E63 and doesn't quite handle NY/NJ potholes as good but am quite happy. Storage space could be improved but it has been fine so far. Started as my DD in Oct and haven't driven it sooo much but will get more seat time now when spring arrives.
The DD
'09 S Cab with PDK - drive to work each day - 22 miles each way - hwy and city. Great to put the top down after work for the drive home - makes it seem like fun, not commuting.
