Porsche Communication Mangement System

The Porsche Communication Mangement System on my 2005 997 has a small tray that pops out. It is located between the numeric key pad and the repeat button. It is not pictured on the cover nor mentioned in the 208 page Porsche Communication Mangement System booklet. Does anyone know its purpose? As always, thank in advance for any insight regarding this mystery tray. -M

It is for cars equipped with option 666 which allows for a cell phone chip to be swapped to your PCM.

I don't think the early 05 models had the SIM card tray. Many of the PCM units in the early 05 models have been replaced over time with the newer PCM version that has the tray. That may be why your PCM manual doesn't make reference to it.
