passenger window in reverse question

i followed the instructions in the manual..my passenger side mirror only moves down to help me in reverse after i put the car in reverse and then move the selector over to select the right side mirror - its doesnt just do it when i put in reverse

is this correct or did i make a mistake?

You have to leave the selector on the right(passenger) mirror. That way, when you shift into reverse, the passenger mirror pans down. After you drive forward, the mirror then readjusts back to normal.

IF the mirror adjustment selector is set to the passenger mirror side, then when-ever you shift into reverse, the mirror tilts down. You do not have to wait until the shifter is in revers to do so. If you leave the selector set to passengers side, it would move the mirror every time you select reverse I believe.

Thats the way its designed to work. I only select that setting when I'm parallel parking and need to see the curb, otherwise, when backing up, I leave it centered, as I want to see my back fender.
