09 C2 Pricing help
09 C2 Pricing help
I have not been tracking the pricing trends for the past few years but know there were some big discounts on 09's. I am considering the following non-CPO 09 C2 from a private seller and need some input on a price:
3400 miles, Black/Black, manual, Power Comfort Seats with Driver Memory, Heated Front Seats, Seat Ventilation, Wheel Caps with Colored Crest, Dynamic Cornering Lights, Bluetooth, Sport Chrono Package Plus, Bose High End Sound Package, XM Radio, Floor Mats, Universal Audio Interface. $86k original MSRP
Owner says perfect condition, no issues. Carfax is clean and waiting on service records/any other issues/in service date/mods etc. Not sure the urgency of the sale but need some help on maybe a high/low price range assuming all records are in order and a PPI checks out.
Thanks in advance.

About 1000 threads on pricing and I don't know anything about Kansas, but logically you could have bought it new in 09 for 10% off; knock another 10% off for 2010 purchase; knock another 10% for used but "low mileage/perfect condition". So $86 minus 8.6k minus 7.7k minus 6.6k = about $63,000 at the top end. I'd guess that a dealer would CPO it and ask $72, be happy to get 68.
You would obviously have the balance of the factory warranty, so non CPO not an issue.
Good luck

The real whacko thing is that a similarly equipped 07 C2S (which has the same HP essentially as the 09 C2) is selling at $59k at auction prices now! After dealer mark-up and other fees, the 07 C2S lands you at mid 60s at best. Even though I got my 09 C4 at >20k under sticker, I don't think I would go and sell it 3 months later at 60k - unless I was really desperate! So if this guy bites at low 60s - it's a good deal - you've got 3+years of warranty left.
Let me tell you, dealers are not going to want to "pass on the savings" on a used 09 to the next customer - they're going to try to get the profit they missed out on in 2009! Believe me, I tried...

Guy is telling me he has a trade-in offer at $63k...not sure if his state has a sales tax offset for the trade-in on a new purchase. He's around $68k...and says he passed on a $65k offer. We'll see how things work out...kind of different situation when someone actually shows up with the funds.
As you said, you're not sure how urgent the sale is to him.
His trade in at $63 could be subject to him paying more than he wants on the buy side. Him "passing" on a $65 offer may mean he's just stalling that buying hoping to get $68.
I think tejoe's logic is sound arriving at $63. I don't have recent Manheim on the car, but I'd recommend you that figure as a reference point as well.
Some PP sellers are just not capable of accepting the depreciation until they "have" to sell.
My best advice to is cast a wider net with your search, pick your price, and take the first car that meets your criteria (including PPI) without compromise.

Is it _the_ car (color, options, style) you want? If so, buy it, if not, pass. His statement that he turned down 65 is IMO a bluff, as it is 2K more than the trade in offer.
For me, black is a negative, black is not a color, it's an occupation. My next pcar will definitely have PASM.

i think black is the best color..i have owned silver and grey porsches - they stay cleaning looking but black pops!! i was my cars every weekend anyway so it didnt matter silver or black. I decided long ago my next porsche would be black. Nothing looks better when clean - just devote an hour a week to keeping it beautiful. I actually enjoy washing and polishing my car - good quality time together.
I hear you on black...definitely not my first choice. I have a $60k target for a 09 and and can give on an option here or there...possibly the color for the right car/price....still too high and I was hoping to see the 09s come down a bit. I also assume there have not been enough of these at Manheim yet to gauge pricing. The search is half the fun...still looking.
