6 speed 997.2 w/out SC?

Found a couple of 6 speed cars that could be great deals but no Sport chrono-Not worried too much about resale if price is right but, is it that necessary on a non pdk car?

I recall my 09 having just a slight difference when activated.

Opinions?

I really like being able to change the throttle map and alter PSM threshold. I wouldnt go for a car without it.

if you need sport mode - you get softronic flash with it and it will be activated all the time. works fine.

My 997.1 6 speed does not have it and it seems just fine. Fast enough. And, the "chrono" aspect sure seems like a waste if you never track your car. You gonna time yourself from one stop light to the next?

I guess it means something with PDK, launch control, etc...But, for a 6 speed...

I think it can be an advantage (to forgo the SC on .1 cars). It gives you the option of a much wider range of aftermarket coilovers (without disabling the system), you can re-create the sport throttle setting with an aftermarket ECU flash (I'm not a big fan of the sport throttle setting but it is a personal taste thing) and you are 'wart free'.
I do think if devalues the car if you plan on selling it so, notwithstanding all of the pluses above, I'd only omit it if you were sure that you were going to have a very long-term affair with the car.

fwiw, i have a 6spd with sport chrono, and i find very little added value in having it. can't say if it limits re-sale value but if we're having this discussion re buying a new car with or without this option, then its fair to assume that a similar discussion would be had with a used car purchase. its an interesting looking gadget and is novel to operate for a few times, but thats about it...

No worries at all for a 6-speed IMHO. I have it and rarely use it - car handles great in normal PASM mode and I know it will tighten up under aggressive driving if needed.

fwiw, when we order manual cars, we never opt for sport chrono.

Do you have anything better to do than to play search police?

My C4S does NOT have SC and my C2S does. I prefer the C2S because it has better throttle response. However, with an ECU flash they would be equally responsive.

Honestly, if I was looking at a car and it had SC, I wouldn't buy it. I don't like the wart and it does nothing for performance. The throttle remap is "worse" than stock on both street and track based on 100% of the opinions I gathered at Lime Rock and Watkins Glen. The Softronic remap, however, is fantastic - smooths out the line, makes it more linear and not jumpy like SC.
