to flash in an alternate fashion like the new GT3 RS. If you have not seen them they blink three times when the breaks are applied.

Are you talking about the flashing LEDs on braking you see in videos? If so, they aren't actually blinking such that you can see it with the naked eye. It's a problem with video sensors picking up the very fast pulsating LEDs. When I just got my new 09 I had seen video online and asked my buddies at the track if it was threshold braking that caused the flashing (ie: normal braking, no, but emergency braking, flash). No flashing to the eye, but video from a guy behind me was flashing.

Same phenomenon you see if you aim a video camera at a computer screen. Something to do with the camera picking up light pulses that happen too fast for the naked to see.

I saw a site recently that i think was amini cooper oriented that sold an inline kit that modulated the pulsing of the brake lights. i even think it was speed sensitive and had a timer so it won't go off if you're in traffic.
i'll try to find it and post the link.

here's the link.

Not so much that it's just too fast but rather that the frame rate of the video is different to the source so occassionally it captures the an empty image which the human eye doesn't.

its the halflife of the LED's coupled with the video frame rate. they stay solid.

A while ago Mercedes tried to convince the DOT to accept fast pulsing break taillights on emergency stops. DOT said it would be confusing !?! It actually made a lot of sense, but the gov bureaucrats think they know better and they design our cars these days.
