I didn't like the AWE sound either.

I love Tubi and Cargraphic but trying to minimize costs.
I had the Afterhours on my 996 C4 cab. and loved them! Perfect sound. Some people complained but I never set off alarms and could have cell convos no problem WITH the top down. For $200 more than you spent you could have done it plus you'd be taking weight out of the rear end.

I'm not a skilled mechanic and it took me about 45 min to remove the mufflers, 30 min install them back. You have to consider that I removed the bumper. For lifting the car I used a 2.5 ton jack that I bought at Sears for $29, no towers used. But need assistance to pull out the bumper to prevent scratches. I also used some spray for the screws to loosen them few days prior the project.

For instructions I read some threads at this forum, some of them with pictures. Believe this is my first P-car and those instructions are really good.

After all if you break something no big deal because if you do not do it you have to pay someone about $100 to do it anyway. Enjoy DIY and after finishing grab an Ale or any of your local beer (microbrewery the best) and cheers.

After a little over a week with the Gundo hack, I love it. I'm not completely sure about any power increases but it seems a bit more 'free' to me in the upper rev range. I've seldom had to go over 5000 rpm when it seemed like I was going higher before. Might just be an illusion.
