what is the cheapest place to get hoosiers a6?

tirerack has em for $292.00 - 245/35ZR18 LL and $331.00 - 315/30ZR18 LL. Is it the best possible price overall for them or is there any other discount shop that sells them?

Another thing - is it possible to properly mount 245/35ZR18 hoosier on a 8" wide front rims or do they require 8.5" minimum width? I am just very tempted to mount those sliks on my stock 8" & 10" 18" rims, naturally going with 295/30zr18 for rear. Would it make sense? how much traction would be lost compared to 315 rear tire? does it worth the price of complete oz allegeritas set?

If you are spending the money to my the A6 (I use the R6's) I would buy a set of light weight wheels like the OZ's. The 295/30/18 is too short IMO for the 997, the 245/35 (or 40) will be fine on a 8" wheel.

my wife gave me 'the look' when i started talking about absolute necessity to enlarge my tire rack in garage...

what do you mean '295/30/18 is too short'? they do not have other options on hoosiers. only other option is 345/35ZR18 but it needs 12" rear rim. I canot find them in 59mm-61mm offset nowhere and see no reason to get 68mm offset rims to be forced to use 7mm spacers to fit them as it will defeat the purpose of getting light rims imho.

I have carrera classic rims - 8" and 10". they are quite light, in this regard OZs will not do much. essentially only benefit I will get from 11" rear allegeritas is to get an ability to mount 315/30zr18 instead of 295/30zr18.
you disagree?

ps. A6 are better for auto-x.

I know on turbo cars some run 275/35 335/30 tires on 10"/12" set of rims but from what I know C2 narrowbody car cannot take 10" front rims? Or can it?

The height of the tire looks a little short with a 295/30/18, the 315/30/18 is better. I had a set of 18" Carrera wheels with 295/30/18 and sold them and now have 315/30/18 on a 18 x 11 Volk TE37 (very light), they have reduced my unsprung weight a great deal when compared to the OEM wheels.

The A6 tires are designed to heat up faster then the R6, however they aren't designed to take the prolonged heat that the R6 will. If the A6 is as good at AX as the R6 is for the track, you will love them.

i will go with my stock carrera classics for this season. set of hoosiers will probably not last longer anyway so may be during winter time I`ll find good light used 9"&12" wide rear 18" rims set. will see.
going to 345mm from 295 would make bigger difference than from 295 to 315. I will probably do 2-3 DE sessions this season but majority of runs will be at Devens auto-x - 11 days, and from auto-x perspective it is probably even better to run 245x295 than on 255x345 tires as understeer is the major problem there.

will see quite soon how it all will work out with JIC coils. can`t wait to start putting all this stuff together.

It isn't a bad idea, the short tires will give you a little bit quicker acceleration, I cannot comment how many AX's you will get out of them as I haven't tried them, however the R6's are good for 12-15 HC's, depending on the track surface.

They all seem to be the same price, even buying from Hoosier direct is the same price as tirerack.
