just my opinion ...
Ruf is too expansive.
Speedart is too "tuning" (sorry).
Techart is ... a piece added.
FVD kit + OEM led and new bumper ... why not.
and Orange-tuning - Dectane, works now on it to do something as OEM Gen2.
I'm waiting for those last.

I have finished a 997.1 to 997.2 bumper and light conversion. The facts are. If you are only doing the front you do not need a new front module (no matter what year 2005-2008). Everything works just fine by splicing the min looms from the 997.2 into you front harness. No defaults etc. If you do a rear change also you will need at least a rear module and i used both new modules because i have a 2006 car. You will have to have the system reprogramed by a porsche dealer or someone that has a knock off system. Durametric will not work. The technician that did my reprograming also changed some wires on the front module, i am not sure this has to be done all the time. Anyone interested in more detail i can help with the specifics and what parts are actually needed.

i will be ongoing from 05 to facelift look and found a guy used to work at a dealer and he claims he does it without changing the control modules on the car. He says he only does electrical modifications to the system and i know at least 3 cars he completed successfully. Waiting for the rear bumper to arrive i will let y'all how it works after installing. Too bad , İ live in Turkey so does the guy

Am I crazy for considering upgrading my front to 997.2. I am guessing total cost with install at close to 4K using the kit that Suncoast is now selling. I plan on keeping my car for a while and i really like the look of the .2 front over the .1. When I do decide to sell. Is there potential that having upgraded a .1 to a .2 front help or hurt the value of my car? I would love to hear from anyone who has done this with this kit and did they do the install themselves. I am also curious about the DRL operation with the upgrade. Do they come on when you start the car just as they do on a 997.2?

i did the conversion using a sport classic bumper and spoiler. the drl do not come on when the ignition is turned on. if you put daytime driving llights on ,the head lights and the parking lights come on. this is with the new module, and programing. (they did not know how to make it do what a 997.2 does) i did buy a dectane module that can make it do what a 997.2 does but it has not come yet and i have to install it without taking off the bumper. i connects to the batery and senses when the ignition turns on. mike

FVD sells a wiring harness for $4 that allows the rear 997.2 LEDs to be plug and play with a 997.1. Of course, you will need the new bumper and other parts as well.
If you call FVD, they are very helpful and will know exactly the harness that you need. Absolutely, no programming is required (anymore)

I considered this too, but for the money I decided to just go with ROTtec LED DRLs for my 997.1 front and leave it as such. In the end the facelift for the front OEM bumper is not worth the money and will not be an additional selling point later. I think that it is only the true P car owners who would even see the difference between the two bumpers. In the future if I will want to change it, it will be something more custom and agressive than OEM stock front.

Do you know if the Professional version of the Durametric will work? The Enthusiast version won't work because it does not allow coding.
