Those are two good ones but I was just seeing if the one w/ 57K miles could be had near the low 40's; they didn't budge. I'm not too desperate for one anyway... I should probably just stick to waiting out for a used 997.2 in a few years.

Smart move. Time and savings are always on your side. When you finally get the car .. you'll know the time is right.

i bought a 2006 C2S, with 29,000 miles for $48,500. car is loaded, and the only downside is the A/C stinks like bad feet... anyways, you can find the right car if you are patient. i'd say pass on those cars unless you get a much better deal...

i think there's a 2005 C2S that just came up on autotrader... low miles and the guy is looking for around $45K... only downside in my opinion is i think it has supple leather...

I didn't want to spend more money than what I'm paying right now. So i thought I could get it near 40-42K (a long shot) since I would probably be paying 4% interest. Right now I also have 0.9% APR.

I also figured that at my age, and my income, I shouldn't be really swapping cars every few years (I need to stop coming to this forum). I pay off my car in 2013. Hopefully there will be a good amount of pristine 997.2s C2S's out by then, assuming I have the money to do so, and that the latest 911 is already out.

Probably won't be necessary for the low miles you are looking at but fyi... I live in Scottsdale and these dealers are located in the vicinity where I often go... I'd be more than happy to give a look if needed.

I'm good; thanks. I did a quick look through Autotrader in Scottsdale and didn't see anything that would come close to $40K.

I'm just going to stick to putting money in the bank for now...

Saving up for a 997.2 or my own condo; whatever's more important
Cars will come and go but independence comes with having your own home far in advance of an expensive car . It's a toy and no matter how great it is the novelty erodes.

I don't know if this applies to you but i do see a young adults who live at home nearing age 30 . Some make decent money but they save nothing. Instead they waste it on cars, clothes , travel, and going to the South Florida clubs . even though in terms of age they are adults .. they never had a chance to really be on their own .

The adjustment when they finally buy a home or condo (which usually is equally as out of price reach) , married (when for 30 years they were an adult child rather than an equal spouse) they realize that they can't afford it .. and its too late. They often face debt , forclosure, divorce and end up being back at home with their folks at 40.

Money saved as a young person and independence gained will make for a far more happy adult life than a car toy and a hole of debt.

My advice is to wait until you really can afford it and coming to the forum might even give youy something to look forward to instead of thinking that you are missing out.

Good luck.

yeah, i 2nd that it's a good choice to hold off and think about a home... plus real estate is cheap (or cheaper) in San Diego... just feel lucky that you don't live in Irvine, where prices are up 15% and still on the rise!!!

Funny... I went to UCI... and I want to move back to Irvine.

Most of my savings is in 401(K) and whatever I have left after bills, I dump into a savings account; the savings are for a DP on my own place or emergencies. I don't mod my car and am not really interested in spending a lot of money on electronics or whatever as larry stated... although I did have a helluva time going to Europe recently.

Even though my parents have a house for me to move into, or will help me buy elsewhere, I think it'd be a slap in their faces if I spent my money on a car... seeing how hard they worked for all those years to get me where I am today.

Folks, here in SoCal a CPO 2006 C2 or S with 35K miles ain't going for 50K anymore. Maybe when the market was fully hosed but my search sees them "going UP" by the day. Average 2006 C2S CPO'd with 35K miles is in the 58K range - the Cab I'm looking for is regularly running 60+ whereas 4-5 months ago it was about 5K less. Everyone keeps telling me to hold out but the longer I do the higher the price goes.

My $0.02 -------- Dan

Shouldn't prices begin to drop on the 997 market with the new 991 due to come out next year? I've been trying to find a 2006 C2S with techart mods (similar to the profile photo), but can't seem to find any for less than $50k (without CPO)...

agree...the market is on the upswing...less inventory than in recent years....owners holding on to their cars longer.

I recently paid $59 for 2006 C2S w/ 11k miles, aerokit, aluminum steering wheel, carrera classic wheels, silver belts, navi, bose high end sound, stainless exhaust clean title. No CPO. Meeting the owner and seeing that the car was babied since day 1 and hadn't seen rain, I was in!

I was told the same thing from a few people during my search. I figured I'd better pull the trigger before matters get worse. Another bubble .

I have a 2005 C2S Launch Edition with 44K miles and brand new Bridestones RE-11s that I'm going to unload shortly. I bought it eight mos ago with 41K miles and it now has 44K. I had a PPI done before I purchased it. Its not a DD for me and I work in San Diego. Since I split my commute, I'm looking for a more visceral driving experience and thus I'm looking at a 993. We are also expecting another child so I'm also looking to move into an E63 AMG Wagon. I would sell it in the mid 40s or let this forum sort out the price when the time comes
