Which performance upgrade should i go for ?
Which performance upgrade should i go for ?
Im kinda torn on what to choose to satisfy the mod bug for a while...
At first i was planning on getting a set of lightweight wheels to use for track days with semi slicks.
Then the idea of flashing the car didn't seem bad at all....
And now im thinking i might wait a little longer and go for Bilstein damptronics.
what do you guys think ?
ANY help appreciated !

Do you drive on the track? At all? Much? You mention track wheels/tires, so I'll assume you spend some time on the track, or plan to. Below refers to more than a small amount of time on track (different definition for all, but maybe more than two events per yer and I would stand by the comments below).
If so, make sure you've got all of your safety mods: Harness bar or roll bar, harnesses, gloves, HANS. Then seats (for proper harness mounting).
Then suspension (typically, but maybe less so for 997, .2 especially - stock is supposed to be pretty good - I personally don't have enough experience on this one to comment), track brake pads, wheels and track tires.
If I spent any reasonable time on the track, I wouldn't consider a flash until I had all of the above.

I do track the car, say...an average of 5 times a year. You are right the suspension on the 997.2 is very impressive, but i heard good things about the damptronics too. I think the only thing thats causing me a bit of discomfort when im on the track is the stock seats. I have the manual sport seats and they are far better than the comfort seats. However, i still find myself slightly shifting around and im not a tiny guy ! The problem is most racing seats come in black and my car has the carrera red interior, so im not sure how that would look.

The Damptronic's are a great upgrade, I have had them for 2 1/2 years and love them, however you will want the seats even more after you get those.
Flashes on a non turbo car don't offer any significant extra power IMO, do a set of high flow cats, it will give you a great sound and a little extra kick.

YOu might be surprised how good it will look. Take a photo and pay with photo shop. I think it will add a nice bit of contrast to the sea of red.

Foreget the flashes, intakes and so forth...not much bang for the buck especially at the track.
Go for a excellent set of 9x18 and 12x18 wheels and r-compund tires and like NorthVan said proper seats and belts will mmake more of a difference. Next would be suspension and brake upgrades and as always more seat time with proper instruction.

Corbeau has red seats, as well as many other colors. I have yellow Forzas in my 944.

I don't think it's the same red, but at least you have some options, and the colors don't cost much extra, if anything, IIRC

yup, you're right. Good for folks to know about color options, but all black seats would probably be best for the OPs car...
The Evo3 is larger than the Porsche GT3 seats...the Evo 2 is right around the same size.
Don;t use cheap and light weight wheels for the track in the same sentance...LOL
CCW's are the best bang forged wheels you can get. They are not the lightest forged wheels but they are super strong, used by many race teams and DE's guys.
Volk TE37 would be more expensive and lighter, then you move to BBS, Forgeline ect.

what i meant by "cheap" was something in the range of the O.Z ultraleggeras for example...aren't they good quality?
i've noticed a way better difference with the Bilstein damp than lighter wheels.
In order:
1. Good (excellent) tires -the only physical connection between your car and the road-
2. Suspension (CO's)
3. Lighter wheels
driving courses is a great idea too

Basically i think bad or average tires can spoil the pleasure of driving that kind of car. If i had no other choice but great tires mounted on average cast wheels v.s. average tires mounted on expensive lightweight wheels, i would take the first combo wihtout a doubt.
