Rob, sorry to hear about unwanted repairs. I was wondering where exactly did the dealer say the rock flies through? one of the side holes in the bumper where the radiators are? Through the middle opening before it deflected to one of the sides? Or am I missing something here - I don't want this to happen to me either.

Rocks may enter the side openings. It is unlikely that they will enter and be deflected by the center baffle.

Further, a well designed grill should have a soft rubberized frame - this is the difference to the DIY grill mesh, which will scratch the finishing where it touches.
I like your idea. I haven't found anyone offering such a solution however - let me know if you find it.

Doe anyone have a picture of the what the Champion mesh grill looks like installed on a 997.1? I'd be curious to see the difference between that and this.

Thanks!

Steve

FWIW, here is a pic of my Cargraphic grills. Removal of front bumper was required.

Does anyone know if the front bumper needs to be removed to install the Champion version?

Thats the nice thing about the one in the picture, no front bumper removal!

I would not want to install a mesh over the existing grill/slats. There is a way to install a mesh behind that and if designed properly it does not require removing the bumper.

Does anyone make-sell this item?

And, just curious, why dont you like the design pictured (over the existing grills)? Is it purely aesthetic or do you have a practical reason for saying this?

Thanks,

Steve

Aesthetic. Besides, how is that attached? Velcro? I do not want velcro in that area.

Nope, clips that are attached to the slats and then screwed in...at least, this was the way it was explained to me on the phone, kinda-sorta...Its NOT velcro.

And, if its just aesthetic, then you know what they say: Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

I thought you may have felt there was a practical reason.
