is there a screen i can install in the front
is there a screen i can install in the front
of my car?
Apparently I had a rock kick up and fly thru the front and puncture a hole in the AC compressor or something else AC related.
Since it happened because of outside forces it is NOT covered by warranty. Ofcourse, I use the best dealership in the area so they are covering the work but I want to make sure this never happens again.
I am sorry if i am not explaining it correctly. Do you guys know what I am talking about? I need a screen to install I assume in the lower front in front of the radiator so rocks cant come through and do this again.
Recommended product?
Thanks!

Alot of 997.1 users have the screens on their vehicles however there hasn't been a push in the 997.2 market for these. We are happy to make a few sets for you guys.

How do you plan to design this? It should not require removing the bumper. It should simply be a framed net insertable via the center openings and secured in place with black tie clips attached to the existing slats. This makes it for a simple installation and easy removal for radiator cleaning (even with a net cleaning is needed, less but some).

I made my own out of mesh wire from Lowes. A PITA to install ( I think I still have the scratches to prove it) but it turned out well for a DIY project and is very effective at protecting the radiatiors, etc, from a direct hit. However, I would also be interested in seeing a manufactured kit for the 997.2.
I'd be interested in this for my 997.1, but not if I have to remove the bumper...as is the procedure for the ones I've seen before. Something that clicks in from the front (as Adias mentions), will not mar the finish with vibration, and is easily removable, will get my money.

There's a lot of DIY threads on 6speed about this. There's a few suppliers that enable you to put screens behind the bumper. Apparently it's not a huge job to take it off and put it back on - but who wants to.
I've heard some folks by the screen material at Home Depot on the cheap but there's some vendors who sell a higher quality material for DIY efforts including http://www.customcargrills.com/index.asp
Here's another vendor that allows you to put the screens on without taking the bumper off http://www.mina-gallery.com/model-pa...le-carrera.htm
I'd be interested to hear what Champion offers as they have great products and I need to do this now that I've added a center radiator.

Further, a well designed grill should have a soft rubberized frame - this is the difference to the DIY grill mesh, which will scratch the finishing where it touches.
