heh, it is not. it does not show it better.
porsche actually has an advantage on real life drag-racing style starts. you would see z06 cars ad m3 cars spinning rear axle and porsche cars hopping and propelling forward.
so rolling start for porsche cars is an actual disadvantage and for a turbo car it is a double disadvantage.

i also believe - if they want to do drag racing tests - they must put proper starting lights tree and do it proper way with proper logging of 0-60, 60-100, 0-100, 1/4 mile, etc. times. those 'rolling starts' are quite lame.

How? When they are not starting wheel to wheel, and the different gears that they are rolling in may effect things. I don't think that these tests are even close to accurate, it is just a bunch of rich kids getting together with their cars filming themselves street racing.

This couldn't have been said any better and I went through this exact situation with my 996 Turbo and several other cars. It has to be done right...that is of course if it's about bragging rights. There is a reason you get a little white piece of paper at the track.

True, but they not only testing 911's, they have to have a standard to follow. Everyone knows a 997TT with PDK and launch control will blitz a manual ZR1 off the line.

Remeber, I said DRIVER skill.

As for the unscientific nature of these videos, I wouldn't worry too much. It's just a fairly informal gathering of motoring junkies that like to see what their cars can do beyond a 1/4 mile. Not too many dragstrips will let you take a street car to such speeds. The comparisons allow us to see to some degree what might happen on your typical highway/autobahn encounter. If it were a dragstrip video, we'd no doubt hear the usual comments about lack of grip on behalf of the ZR1.
