I expected the ZR-1 to flex its muscles once the cars started reaching top speed....still the Turbo maintained the lead

I don't understand their starting procedure. I get they don't want to do a launch from standing, but why is one car starting ahead of the other? Why not do a standing start race?

Amazing result

I have not been in the 997.2 TT or the new ZR1, but I have been in a 997 TTS and a 10' Z06. Journalists say the ZR-1 has an even more punishing street ride than the Z06. So that said, the fact that a loud, crass, downright scary feeling bull-in-a-china-shop (ZR-1) gets beat at its own game - the drag race - by what is a thoroughly civilized and comfortable yet authentic sports car is that much more impressive.

I used to deride the turbo for being too soft, and would have gone for a GT3 any day of the week. But now I've seen the light. The turbo is simply the fastest and most civilized ROAD going 911 made. Even Walter Rohl said he'd rather have a turbo than a GT3 off track.

The car is incredible.

PDK TT car is incredible for sure but there is a lof of marketing hype in claims TT is 'better' than GT3 RS IMHO. Those are quite different toys for different purposes.

not that i want the zr-1 to win but the driver's play such a large factor (maybe not so much when you have pdk).

If I'm not mistaken its the 997.2 TT "S" PDK that posted that sub 3 second time. I think that's as fast as a jet gets catapulted off a carrier on takeoff. Seriously.

I believe the non TTS, the regular turbo posted the 2.9 time.

Its to further remove the element of driver skill. By a rolling 60km/h start its a better show of the cars performance.
