Rear brakelight help

All,

About a week ago, I had a ‘Check Left Brakelight’ message come on in my '06 997S and I had someone verify a light wasn’t coming on when I stepped on the brake. I disassembled the left tail unit and sure enough one of the lights was out so I went and bought a replacement, installed it and reassembled the unit. The brakelight now works but I still get the ‘Check Left Brakelight’ message on the dash. Does something need to be reset from a dealer for this?

Also, while I was removing the brakelight unit, I noticed that there is a multi-strand cable in that area that was attached to anything, does anyone know what that’s for?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Alain
