I second the AD08's...I came from PS2's and I like the AD08's MUCH better.

I owned both and actually liked the Pirellis in the N1 spec. Haven't had the N2 spec yet. However, I actually felt like the Pirelli was a tad more stiff in the sidewall than the PS2..that was my feeling anyway. What I really dislike about the Pirellis is at the end of their life they get extremely slippery and they get real loud on certain surfaces, in fact its to the point it is very annoying and it can be heard even over my exhaust. As far as for the track I don't think either tire is going to be a good choice. Go with a M PSC or other dedicated track tire on another set of wheels. If you are just doing a track at 7-8tenths driving I doubt you will notice much of a difference between the tires.

Remember tires are like..well you get the idea..everyones got one.

When it comes to tracking I would definitely talk to the track junkies..they will steer you in the right direction.

Not even comparable in my books. The PS2's will outgrip Pzero's in all conditions and last longer. Less tire noise and better ride as well on PS2's. However, the price difference is quite significant. You get what you pay for..

i had PS2 and rosso. much to my surprise, PS2's sidewall was a lot softer. i like the stiffer sidewall of rosso. it felt more direct with the road. PS2 feels like it was a little wobbly and not so precise.

Pirelli list 5 different versions of the P Zero:

P Zero Corsa System (I know these are road/track day tires)
P Zero
P Zero Rosso
P Zero Nero
P Zero System

Does anyone know what the differences are between them? Which are old-tech and which are new? Which are good/bad?

I once had Rossos on my 997S.1 and they were nowhere near as good a tire as the PS2.

i agree with northvan....

...regretably.

i had pzero neros and prefer the michelins but the french company makes a noisier tire. they're great froma performance POV.

HOWEVER, JD Power (see my other post) says Pirelli is the way to go.

I think there is a new PZero out. Did you have the new one or the old one?

I had the old ones, but know people that have had both and still prefer PS2's.

Lots of people are talking apples and oranges here. The new P Zero has not been out very long and I would be pretty surprised if people had them on a car delivered unless it was an 09 or 10. The Rosso was not a great tire compared to the latest offerings. If people have comments on the new P Zeros, please share.

I have thee NERO version on my 997 and also had Nero on my old '78 911SC.
The Nero is the cheapest for our sizes. I think it's an excellent value and way ahead of lets say Hankook V12 or else.

I am running Pirelli Rosso's. If your car is only driven occasionally (weekend use, etc.), then you want to go with something other than the Pirelli's. The Rosso I have tend to flat spot after just a few days, and others have reported similar on the net.

I think I want to try the Nitto Invo's next. They have a fairly aggressive tread pattern and have received good reviews when it comes to performance.
