I decided to do this myself. Got the rear console from Bumperplugs.com and the pdk surround from Suncoast. About 6 hours of installation time.

Nice! I've always liked this mod. I havent attempted this myself. What was the hardest part and why 6 hours?

 

Just went really slow. Lots of bits and pieces to keep track of.

 

How does the finish wear ? Does it scratch easily ?

 

Very durable. It's the same finish that is on the exterior of the car. Exactly the same as on the plastic pieces like the mirrors and the bumper.

 

Hmmm, can any body shop in town do that or is this a specialized process ?

 

I used bumperplugs.com. Check out the web site. Eric is very knowledgeable about the whole process. He will send you the parts (console) painted to your color and you just return the core. I decided not to use a body shop after looking at the results from bumperplugs. I did order the pdk surround from Suncoast Porsche. It is an oem part painted by Porsche.

About $300 for the pkd surround and $429 for the console. You have to ship your old console back to Bumperplugs when you are done.
