Replacing "Carrera S" sign with "911"
I am sure some people have done it but I can't find any posts using search function. Is it easy to DIY? Or going to the dealer is the best option? Need opinions, please!
Hmm, they stopped building the 911 over 20 years ago. This is the 997. The model is really the Carrera, thus the badge on the back. Just curious is all... Consider removing the badge altogether for that clean look (I ordered my 2x 997s without badge and get lots of compliments from enthusiasts - they all know what the car is just by the calipers).
There is at least one thread on this here.
Whether you have a 997, 996, 993, 964 or 930 they are all 911s. If you doubt me go to porscheusa.com.
As for me, well just take a look.

It is like removing a sticker. Very simple.
Tape off a square around the Carrera S logo. This will give you the exact same height and width that the old logo was when you go to put the new one on. Get some 3M adhesive remover and spray a small amount into the back of the logos. Let it sit for a bit and get some dental floss to use as a scraper. So you spray a bit, scrape a bit and repeat until they come off. Then use a paper towel or something like that with some more spray to remove the rest of the residue from the logos off. Make sure you totally clean the area of all adhesive remove before you install the new logos.
You can get logos from here:

Or you can get some other ones from here:

I am sure there are way more places, those are just the two that I know best.

+1, they are all 911, the 997 is a platform/chassis designation.

I know, I know - was just making conversation. When Porsche made the 356 was the 356, the 914 was a 914, and a 911 was made until 1989. Then there are all of the race cars - 904, 917, etc. Just curious that Porsche puts Carrera, Carrera S, etc. on the back of a car that we all call a 997 here at the forum. We don't say 911 because a 911 could be any platform. Instead we all say 997 then it was 997.1 and 997.2. Maybe this is all one reason why I order mine without any plastic wording on the back. The shape gives away what it is and if anyone is curious what vintage it is, they can ask.
I think one of the main reasons that Porsche uses names is that numbers are difficult (though not impossible) to trademark and protect. Its one of the main reasons Intel switched from 286, 386, 486 to Pentium and then Core.
Nice car! I also would like to see some interior pictures

Is your the chrome 911 badge? Or did you paint the plastic black one?
"911" badge now available as option
