Lee,
I read this whole thread and I was on the fence about how adamant everyone is about the car wash. Yeah its not the best thing to do, ( I probably wouldn't personally), but at least she's cleaning it, which is more than most. Then I got to your comment and I liked it. What you say makes sense. I suppose to each his/her own and treat it as you will, at the end of the day they are all material anyway and I enjoy your perspective.
But there is nothing wrong with cherishing these items either.
I know I do too.

There's a huge difference between a laser (brushless) car wash and a car wash like the Panemara is going through above.. Neither are for me.. my P-car will never see the inside of a car wash ... hand wash only.

I suppose a guy who claims that a Snapper riding mower and a Ferrari are similar would be a guy who would use an automated car wash ...

Maybe it's an employee who was suppose to hand wash the car, took a shortcut. Or maybe it's valet parking.

No car washes for me .
The brushes make scratches ,
The "touchless" has detergents so strong it can strip the wax.
The products are cheap.

I even heard of one story where a guy's rear window was blown out from the pressure of the dry cycle.

It's just a no go.
In fact .. even leaving a car dirty is better than ruining it in an effort to clean it.

Too quick to judge... car washes are not the best for a car finish but they are not the end of the world and some people may not have another choice... for a variety of reasons.

I think it's also wrong to plaster somebody's license plate on the Internet.

This woman drives a Panamera, not a Yugo. She has other choices

Uh, no no no. It's better to leave it dirty than to go through one of those paint scratching monsters.

Seriously, I DE the porsche, drive on gravel, drive in rain, and I would never take it through one of those machines.

You may as well just key your own car if you're going to drive through a brush washer.

sheesh

Until he turns the car in with non N spec tires, hes going to get nailed. I leased my 997, sold it now..but I treated it as if it was always going to be mine.

I love to drive both, and each time I do appreciate how well designed each is, but the drive to work takes so much longer on the Snapper . . .

Good job! Even though most of us do not use automated car washes, or even anybody else to wash our cars... there are times when people may have to do so with no other choice, and it has nothing to do with money, and all to do with specific circumstances. Having said that, the Panamera is attracting a lot of new customers, who are not and will never be in the 'car fan' category and will never be.
