Lunchtime Blast

So... today I decided that I would get the tires balanced on the '89 Carrera at lunch today because I had a little wobble in the steering wheel. Once it was done I thought I'd take a little blast up the freeway to see if the problem was corrected. The freeways in Texas aren't like California, during the day there's hardly any traffic in most places. So I head up the freeway for about 20 miles, I'm just a little north of Denton now and the car is feeling good. I've gone up to about 90 mph and it's smooth as silk. I decided that was far enough so I get off the freeway to turn around and go back south. Now I'm on the on-ramp and right behind me is a BMW (on my ***) and I hit the accelerator hard. We both get on the freeway under a full head of steam, the right lane is full so we both immediately zoom to the left lane. I'm thinking... this is probably just a regular 5 series so I thought we could have some fun. We're both accelerating, he's still on my ***... we're up to 100, 110, 120, 130, 140, you get the picture. Now keep in mind this little Carrera of mine is only a lightly modded 3.2, dynoed at Andial with 255hp. Within a few seconds my speedo is pegged (it goes up to 160) and I'm turning about 5800 rpm, this guy is still on my ***! At this point I decided that I really don't want to be thrown in jail for this kind of speed 'cause I'm way too cute for a Texas jail I pull over into the right lane to let him pass and all I here is a WHOOSH, no engine noise or anything, he keeps accelerating even more and all I can think as the M5 badge goes by is this guy is crazy! What a lunch hour huh! That was the fastest I've ever traveled in my little green car, and the amazing thing is that at top speed it was as stable and quiet as it is at 80 mph. I can't wait until my Carrera S gets here, I'm going looking for that guy again. My only regret is that my little nephew Evan wasn't with me today.
