Durametric on a Mac

Before I put in a ticket and wait for a response from Durametric I thought I would see if on the off chance any of you guys are on a Mac and run their software.

My local dealer informed me a few days ago of "several" faults including a PDK module that needed to be replaced on my '09 C2 cab. After sitting on it a few days they re-informed me that it was just a software issue after all. My roll bar still needs replacing to get rid of the airbag fault and warning light. They said they overnighted that part but it will take 2 weeks to arrive from Germany.

I was wondering if all of the apparent software faults might be related to me using my new Durametric Professional's cable and software last week. I'm running it on a Mac laptop with Parallels virtualization software. Any of you guys have an issue with your Durametric causing problems, and specifically problems when used on a Mac?

Durametric 6.0B
Mac OSX - Snow Leopard + Parallels 5.0

No problems. Durametric software should not create faults.

Yes, they confirmed as much as well Bob.

"Thank you for contacting Durametric. We appreciate your concern about
the fault codes. There is no reason to believe Durametric would cause
additional faults regarding the software in any control unit in your
car. The protocols, addresses, and commands that the Durametric tool
uses are the same as those in the factory tool. When checking for faults
or requesting other data, the tool only sends a request for the
information to the control unit; it doesn't perform any direct changed
to the control units or the firmware loaded there. When it attempts to
clear the faults, again, it only sends a command asking the control unit
to clear its memory. It is up to the control unit to take that action
because the tool cannot force this.

We see from time to time that the firmware on some control units becomes
corrupted and/or out of date and must be updated. Though infrequent, it
happens enough with Porsches to be part of the overall maintenance of
the (newer) cars."

Is this still the most up-to-date method of running a Durametric on a Mac?

I've abandoned Parallels.

Terrible customer support. Software kept asking me to register over and over again, wouldn't update, etc. Nothing but white noise from the company.

I just boot up with bootcamp now.

I gave up on Parallels and VMWare. I use windows so infrequently, I just hop on the reboot to BootCamp.

I think Durametric 6 requires a 1.8 Core2 Duo processor. Not sure which Mac you are running.

If you have an adequate processor, I use Snow Leopard, BootCamp, then run Windows XP.

Is XP required to run the Durametric software?
