Have one, but don't get to drive it too often.

Every morning at work, all I think about is driving my 997 on the weekend. It's ashame my work does not allow me to drive that to work everyday (construction manager), so Im always on the road with my Nissan Frontier, which is roomy and nice, but I always feel like having this incredible thrist, as if there's no water around, when I think about that car.

Does any of you feel this??!! I often take the car out whenever I can, and usually it's the weekend, and I probably put as much miles on it as I can, but lately, i've been so occupied that I didn't even get to sit in it! Which means, another week has to pass by before I can even do so, and so forth and so on. Before I realized it, it's been like 3 weeks.!!! It's killing me inside to have that car around. Perhaps I should sell it and move on?!!!

The good thing is everytime im on the seat and starting the engine, i feel like it was the first day again when I first got the car. The feeling is indescribable. Being 28 and was able to buy that car all on my own is probably my greatest accomplishment of all. ha~ no offense to anyone.

sigh..
At least being on this website everyday and reading other people's stuff helps.

Yeah I know the feeling, as I leave my Touareg on the side of the road each morning going to work.

Ya, I hear you...I drive a work van everyday. If I had a regular job and could drive to work like a normal person, I'd probably take the Porsche. But I don't. And in the evenings I mostly just feel tired and want to chill. So, weekends I drive the Porsche...however, I am selective about when and where I want to drive it. I won't take it running errands...so some weekends go by with it not being driven at all, if I don't find/make the time to take it for a spin. Sometimes I think "it's a pretty expensive "toy" to not use. I've had it for 2.5 years and it only has 3400 miles on it. I try my hardest to "find the time" at least every week or two to drive it...almost more to keep it "lubed" up and avoid "lot rot" than anything else. Someday, I hope to be in a position to drive it more.

I am 29 and love that I get to take mine out daily. But hey that is an office job for you. I almost wish I could have it as just a weekend car, it would make driving it more of a thrill since your have to "get to know her again" every time. Might be fun!

I could drive it to the office every day but I don't because I don't want my colleagues and my boss to be jealous.

--->Swiss Made,

haha. yeah i feel you. I can totally drive the thing to work, while park my truck there for errands, but I don't want my boss to know that I have a better ride than him. haha.
Im sure he'll find reasons to cut my paycheck.

Sometimes I discretely drive it to work when I don't have to run around, but I park very very far so he wouldn't see it.

Urrghs. The Porsche drama.

It's like your porsche is your secret mistress or something.

There's probably several people at work that do the same thing...how many "toy" cars do people have, but not want their co-workers to know about. You can bet if you're doing/not doing something, there are other's doing/not doing the same exact thing.

Sure you are right, but I do know 100% that both my bosses drive a boring family van. My DD is already "better" than their vans... so I can't tell or show them that I also have a GT3

I drive mine as a DD, i dont think

i could go several week without driving my P car. I don't have to worry about co works as I don't have any but i use my BMW to pick up clients so I understand not driving it to work.

No, don't sell it, every man needs at least one Porsche in his garage.

I rarely drive my RS and I miss it... but at least I'm driving a P car every day.

I have a neighbor who owns a construction business and he's always had two cars because of the same reasons described in your post.

I do feel that when I compare driving my Porsche daily versus occasionally .. I enjoy it more driving it less . It gives me time to to process the drive and savor the miles . it also gives me the choice of selecting my drives. I like that more.

I don't feel bad when I'm not driving it . I enjoy my other cars too . I like the variety and feel that i appreciate my Porsches more but I also appreciate my other cars after driving the Porsche . Today i drove the M3 after not having driven it for a few days . I enjoyed that drive and was glad that my Porsches were kept dry from tropical storm Bonnie (even though it wasn't much of a big weather event locally).

I commute 330 miles every second day so the mileage would certainly add up fast if I used my 997. I have a daily driver instead that can take the abuse.

I drive my 997 on weekends usually or take it to work at the end of the week...

Totally agree with yrralis. Even though I only drive mine 1-2 days a week now, it makes me value the car even more. I drove mine daily for about six months and I took it for granted. Keep the car, you'll regret selling it.
