FVD Brombacher - Latest Development for 997.2/997.2S Street-Sport Muffler System
Please Ronda can you clarify my doubts? According to FVD site, there is a power upgrade package which includes the flash cable, ECU, sports exhaust good for 15hp gain at eur 2.916,00
Now there is new option which only includes new exhaust, without ECU and flash cable at eur 1.495,00 good for 15hp gain
So with much less money you can have the same power gain?
And it´s possible that a system that cost more than the double, includes also exhaust and ECU claims the same power gain?
So if we use the new sport exhaust system which gives alone 15Hp gain, and then aply the ECU, can we expect to gain even more power?
I´m a bit confused here because it doesn´t make sence the power package FVD is offering right now is we compare the power vs price between the offers you have!!!

I will be happy to help you with your questions. And by the way should you decide to purchase I can sell globally now from Germany so I can take care of you if you would like.

Ok. That is the level 2 kit from the FVD Germany website - Leistungskit 997S 09- 3.8L Level2 400PS/435Nm that you are referring to. That kit includes side mufflers and software. The 15 Hp gains come from the software which is good for 10 Hp and side mufflers only produce 5 Hp. So the total is + 15 Hp.
The latest Street-Sport system bypasses the stock center muffler and the side mufflers and replaces the mufflers with 2 small inline mufflers. The gains are larger with that exhaust set up as you free up substantially more back pressure.
So your answer is yes, with less money you can have the same gains. The power will not be produced in the same RPM range but the total power will be the same.
When you add the software you will see more power.
The sport mufflers are factory stamped and cost considerably more to produce than the street- sport system which is essentially all stainless tubing that is bent. I believe you are European, so you probably have a good handle on the labor rates and the overhead for insurance etc., right? Also factor in the TUV approval cost for the sport mufflers where the street sport does not have TUV approval as it does not meet the 85 dB sound restrictions. So yes, it is approximately double but it costs more to bring to market.
I apologize if you are confused with these kits but our ultimate goal here is to offer customer's exactly what they are looking for. The benefits of the factory stamped mufflers is that you can cruise on the autobahn with no interior noise at all, it is quiet like factory. I am not talking about drone I am talking about sound. The Street- Sport system is a loud system and some people don't like that so they would be willing to pay more for factory stamped mufflers. They want more sound outside but want less inside. Sound is subjective and the more offerings you have the wider range of clients you can accommodate, that's all. We tend to progress with exhaust systems and don't rest until we have something for just about everyone, the street-sport system was really developed for the U.S. market.
Hoped that helped.
Thanks,
Rhonda

Hi Rhonda, I'm really looking forward to watching/listening to the video clip.
Subjectively, how loud would you say this system is? I use my car as a daily driver so as well as having an exhaust the sounds crazy at WOT/high-rpm, I really need one that also 'behaves' at part-throttle/low-to-medium rpm. Exhaust sound at cruise I can live with - not an issue if the quality of the sound is good.
Do you also have any dyno results for this system? - I'm interested to see where the gains (and any losses that are often the result of a totally different exhaust) occur in the powerband.
My apologies for so many questions!

Ian_UK1,
I am really sorry for the delay on the video's....but our IT guy promised me they would be done by today.
The system is certainly a 6 at idle an 8 at partial throttle and a 9 at wide open throttle on a scale of 1-10 ( 1 being stock). It is certainly loud but like all of the M&M systems they sound fairly civilized below 3,000 rpms. From the videos the daily driving experience should be fine. Unfortunately FVD Germany did not send interior video's but promised some later this week.
I should have the dyno sheets by the end of the week as well. No worries about the questions! That's what I am here for.
Thanks,
Rhonda
P.S. Just as I finished typing this, the video is ready so....
