I agree. Larger wheels will put too much stress during corning and acceleration.

Is there a way to drop with the best of both worlds, looks and ride/handling?

coilover is the way to go...Bilstein, KW, Koni, Moton and so forth. That is the correct way to drop the car.

Thank you for your input. Would it affect PASM? And what's the ballpark figure of parts ands install?

20's is a must on the 997. I am running 20's on my ride as the ride quality wasnt sacrifice much. You still have your 19's if you plan on taking your car to the track.

There are dozens of threads on this subject here and at RennList (sister site), many that had the hard-core engineering reasons why to not go larger. The car was designed / engineered around 18 and 19" wheels. Despite the reasons not to, those that want 20s are going to get them anyway. As for the look, I guess a few of us think the more the 997 looks like a race car the better - meaning more tire sidewall and less wheel (18s).

I have 20's on my 06 S. I love the look and get many compliments. The ride is a little more stiff than 18's. However, if I was looking for a smooth ride I would probably just drive the wife's car. I have had no complaints.

Bilstein Damptronics plug right in and you can still use PASM. I have instructed some students at track days with these coilovers and they handled very well. The other coilovers by Moton or JRZ do not plug in and PASM will not work. Your Porsche dealer can plug the PIWIS tool into your car and disable PASM so there will not be any issues.

For a street car with some track use I liked the Bilstein Damptronics I rode in.
