So I am out cruising in my 997s when some kid in an Evo starts messing with me. catches me at a light. This kid is so pumped, I can see it in his face out of the corner of my eye. Light turns green, he takes off - I let him go. He sees me back there, slows down, gets next to then nails it, slows down gets next to me, nails it. He keeps doing this. I wouldn't even look at him. A few years ago, I would have been all over that. Either I am getting old or scared.

Same thing happened to me yesterday except for some dude in a M3...I just pointed to the dash and mouthed "break in"...hey...it's a legitimate excuse...in addition to the fact we were in a residential neighborhood...

 

I know, major let down. Cops in my town are a$$holes.

It was fun to watch the kid's face turn red from being ingnored though if that's any consolation. Kinda looked like this

I haven't done it but always thought it would be funny..........get a fake but official looking badge in a badge wallet..when the ricer is next to you reving, pull out the wallet and flash him the badge shaking your head. I would love to see their reactions. (In the past couple of years there have been a number of kids killed racing on residential streets in our area and it really pisses me off)

 

Honestly, I've got to be in the right mood. I usually ignore them. Once a guy in an Infiniti G35 started revving at me...I rolled down the window and said: "Isn't that a Nissan"? He was pissed.

I've said some other things to these A-Holes as well. Some idiot in a Mustang comes up to my window while all of his "gansta" friends are watching...I just left Lucent in LA and I was lost in the wrong neighborhood...he says: "What kind of car is that? Let's race...I've got a Cobra." I said, "no thanks". He says: "Let's race for money...my car is faster...why are u afraid, etc..." I just stop him and say: "Wait a second, did u want to race for money?". He says: "Yup". I said: "That's too bad...cause I don't need the money". I took off. He was pissed.

You did the right thing. You had everything to lose and nothing to gain. He held all the cards. If he beat you ( a distinct possibility) he clearly would have braggin rights but more important in your eyes your car will be tarnished. You will never look at it the same way. No matter how many times you try to explain it away it will hang over you and the car forever.

Now if you won the other driver will say, "so what it was expected" You will never have the measure of satisfaction of beating a EVO car which is worth over $50,000 less than yours.

Bottom line a lose lose situation.

Moral of story; aside from safety and law enforcement issues, street racing for anyone particularly with an income level to own a Porsche, is plain stupid!
