I am actually delighted about the 997 cupholders, considering for many, many years we did not have any besides aftermarket.

I agree, just used them this am. The bonus is that they neatly store away when not in use. I am shocked how many "higher end" cars have two big holes in the center console.

Its a German designed car. Be glad it has cup holders at all. Drive through is a relatively recent (15 years or so) innovation in Germany via McD's and the like from the US. German drivers drive, then pull over at the Autobahn rest stops or a local restaurant to have some food and rest, then go back to the driving. Silly Americans with your 64 oz big gulps and grande latte's. We Germans have our coffee at home or 10 minutes and 25 miles later at the office. Then for lunch, we get a beer form the company beer vending machine. I'm serious... I worked there for two summers in the late 1980s.
