narrow body vs wide body
Most people won't be able to tell, some "experts" could tell you. I have seen a C2 and C4 side by side and there are some slightly different angles and dimensions.
I have had a number of Porsche people comment on how much they love the wide body on the C2S, and are surprised when I tell them it is the NB.

a mile?
Angle on that pic favors the TT also the TT has the ducts which helps to bring out the hips on the 997... wide body none turbo 997 vs a nb anyone would be hard pressed to see any difference lined up side by side never mind at speed or a mile away, even a true enthusiast which if your on this board you most likely are. I would take a step further and say a car set up a certain way with any aero parts, lowered, wheels, spacers could have the illusion of being wider then a stock wide bodied car.
that said there is a slight difference and unlike women in the car world wider is always better....and prefer the wider rear end if I had to pic.....

ok, ok you got me .. maybe not a MILE..
But I can definitely tell the difference as a 997 approaches. Heck my 16 year daughter and her friends spots them before I do.
yet, im also the guy who can spot the .6" wider rear tires as well.
it might not be as much the width, but the angle of the flared fenders.
again, "The average Joe don't know"

I can tell pretty easily -- certainly not from a mile away though. It's obvious to me when looking down the side of the car from the front. The rear fender looks "bloated" from that angle -- I absolutely luv it!
That alone might be worth half of the extra $10K to me...add the more planted feel of the front end in bump-laden and off camber turns and the WB was an easy choice over the NB for me -- ok, calm down rear-wheel-drive-only guys and track fiends, just my opinion/preference...I'm entitled to it.
BTW, another visual dead giveaway for the WB is the "extra" lip on the plastic bumper cover surrounding the outer edges of the rear tail lights. The NB's don't have it.

Wow, that's interesting - I see what you mean now - never knew that!
The worthless thread continues. Who could possibly be concerned what bystanders think about how your car looks like from behind? This is the equivalent of "Does my butt look big in this dress?", only opposite.
you just kept it alive....
Looks like 2 pages of replies care.....Thanks Mike for the comment and keeping this thread going......
Personally wish more women asked this question before wearing some of the things I see them in.... world would be a better place.
jeez, it's a forum buddy, relax

hehe....for a guy who doesn't think much of the thread he keeps reading the damn thing. I only wanted an opinion and others were nice enough to comment. Relax, grab your walking cane and go get some exercise
if your looking for a BIG FAT tire, REAR: the Pilot Sport PS2 315/30ZR18 SL N4 (Porsche)
fits on the 911 GT2 will work.
I know someone who stuffed them on and NO RUB, they looked GREAT.
They had Front: 235/40ZR18

Frankly, it is rather difficult to tell, especially at certain angle-of-view. Like from this picture, the rear looks pretty wide for a narrow body.
If I remembrer correctly, the wide body is approximately 1.75" wider than the narrow body. Consider the total width of the car, the difference is just a little over 2%.
Regards,
