Scud is a track car, you can not compare a regular 997 (no offense, I mean no GT breed) to F430 Scud.

Given the price of the F430 Scud, you can buy a GT2 or 2 GT3's

Yes, it's in a different league completely... The car ruined me! after driving a Buick rental for a week , all was well.

I too was a beemer guy having gone through 5 before I got my 997.2s, and now there is not a bmw that interests me enough to even visit the dealership. I still think they are great cars and would probably get one over a benz or audi. But now if I want a sedan I will get a panameraTT, and if I want an SUV I will get a cayenneTT.

The thing Porsche does better than other sports car manufacturers is stimulating the various 'fun car' driving neurons. Other car makes get some of it right, but Porsche presents the driver with a symphony of good sensations vs. a single instrument or quartet from other makes.

Went from an E46 323i to a 330Ci to an E46 M3 and E36 M3 (people thought I was mad having two M3s).

Then Cayman S and now a 997.2

I have added an E92 328i for winter.

I cant imagine not having a Porsche now. I would miss it badly if that was the case.

I agree, they are addicting. There always has to be at least one in the garage now. I went a year without one about 5 years ago and it just did not feel right.

After tracking a few times in my .2RS, no other cars interested me anymore, not even my other Porsches.....this is so sad...

NoOxy,

The Ford GT40 (the original), F-Dino and the P-904 are hands down my favorite cars of all times.

Can you adopt me?

This is an excellent thread with the 997's really altering my view of what separates a satisfactory driving experience from an outstanding one. And something as basic as steering feel accounts for a significant part of the Porsche experience. Low weight on the front wheels, relatively narrow front tires, feeling every road contact and easy and rapid change of direction. No other car that I've driven possess this quality (haven't driven a Lotus but have driven F and L cars) and it's my favorite part of the car.

OP, understand the emotion. After 2yrs now (almost) with my 997.2, I have come full circle. Coming from an e92 M3 I was bitter with BMW for creating this unnatural feeling beast with a V8. I got over that now, and actually considered what a nice car the e46 M3 was with it's inline 6 and for the price. Different car than the 911 to say the least, but had a soul back then. I have gotten back to admiring BMWs and Mercedes to some degree, but cannot forgive the V8 M3.

I really dislike Bimmers. Most Bimmer owners are dreamers that used to drive VW and Honda. They think they have the best cars out there. Of course, BMW's tag line doesn't help either. BMW is truely for yuppies. Everyone who can affort $399/m can get into a 3 series. Sorry if anyone loves bimmers. I just don't.

Porsche has the right balance between driveability and sports for me. A regular 911 can haul a lot of stuff, driven daily, be as reliable as a Honda and outrun most cars out there. Beyond Porsche, when you enter into the exotic world, you'll trade off many things for the sound, looks and performance. I think Porsche has it right.

YES!

The fastest car I've ever driven was my 2008b Corvette Z06, modded to 565hp at the fly...

Driving my 2009 Porsche Carrera 3.6L... no mods, the pull and connection to the car is greater than my Z06. I know my Z06 was faster... but speed isn't everything.

I was thinking about a ZR1.... no way now, I'll go with a a P-Turbo now Especially now that Corvette gave the wide body to the Grand Sport Z06-wanna-be with no muscle to back the wide hips and vents!
