I left for a year or so for a cls63. The amg was nice and got a lot of looks but I missed Porsche so much I had to come back. My 997.2 s cab just feels right. Open air and the sweet sound of PSE. 90% of the time I'm in sport mode with pse on and usually pasm engaged. I will never leave Porsche again.

I traded in a Lotus Elise and a Mini Cooper S for my 997.1 Targa 4S. I wanted to simplify my garage and I found myself not getting to the track as much as I used to so the Lotus didn't get used as much anymore. I love my Porsche and I think it is great as a DD. I found the 3,000 lbs being light comment funny though. The Lotus is 2,000 pounds and is ridiculously fun to drive. The Porsche feels connected to the road for sure but the Lotus took it up a notch. Miss that car but I think the Porsche is an excellent "compromise" for me. It is so much better on the street vs the Lotus in terms of refinement and "commuting" compliance and still a great GT car that you can have fun with on the twisties.

Regardless of how light the Lotus or Cooper were, the fact is that ~3000 lbs is light by today's standards, putting the 911 in the sports car category. The Turbo is a GT, the Carrera is not.

That is understandable. After a quick stint behind the wheel of my pal's 997.1 RS my C2S felt like a Cayenne.

Everything is soooo precision, steering, brakes, handling. it is definitely a 'standard' by which other cars can be compared too.
