GTS or tt- Someone had to start this here...
I noticed the new GTS has generated a lot of interest on the P forums. I think there are a whole lot of people like me who love their normally aspirated 997 S models but say gosh I wish I had about 50 more reliable stock hp. I have been on the fence about getting a new 6spd tt. The GTS seems however like a better extension of mine. The turbo has always been in a more lofty class, but....408 hp pushing 3131 pounds vs 500 hp push/pulling 3461 lbs. Maybe not such an unfair comparison, oh and to say nothing of about a 40K cost savings. Comments???

Hi Doug. I noticed you ordered one of these bad boys. Where did you find a list of the options to configure the car? I am interested in finding out the price relative to the tt I'm contemplating buying. I know it starts at 103K and knowing Porsche and the options list...Thanks.

Some info I found on here, rennlist, and the Porsche site. There is a brochure, but it is incorrect on many things as it is for the euro model. Ultimately, I had to sit down at the dealer with their configurator since the one on the porsche site is not up yet.
If you have specific questions, I'll do my best to answer them. You can also give my dealer a ring (David Gentile @ Hennessy).

I'd pick the Turbo . It does cost more money and is less exclusive .. but it's really that incredible of a car.
The Gt3 (which others mention as a contender) is more of a track car and if the person has to choose one car and is focusing on daily driving the Turbo is the way to go . The new Turbo doesn't even have to be modified much if at all.
I look at my two cars and there is not even a shread of doubt that my PDK 997s car is inferior . It's a nice car .. but not even close to the Turbo .
If the primary focus is daily driving steet use none of thse cars really make sense but the Turbo has :
1) passing and lane change ability suited for a king
2) exceptional comfort
3) curb appeal
4) general road respect -- many drivers actually courteously move out of the Turbo path ( unlike the 997 where they think they can get there first). And if they cut off the Turbo they tend to signal an apology (also somewhat foreign to the Na 997) .
The Turbo is a cruizing machine !!!!!
It has elegance, style and it's presense makes a statement of a world class flagship car.
It will cost 50K more for a Turbo S but there's 50K more in the car.
Porsche didn't get it wrong making the Turbo this way .

Please amplify on your definition of "inferior". I've said it before and I'll say it now again - I find my '09 C2S far more fun than my stock '07 turbo was. I love my C2S but had little passion for my stock turbo.
I'd take a GTS or a GT3 in a heartbeat over a '10 stock turbo (notice the "stock" part - your turbo is very special with its mods) or turbo S. Less money, less acceleration but more fun for U.S. roads (at least here in the Northeast). My definition of fun is found in brilliance of handling, steering, instantaneous engine response and overall lightness of feel.

I agree with Alan. I have driven both. I could have had either cost was not a factor. I left the dealership with a C2S. It's more car than I need driving in the Northeast. I plan on adding either a GT3 or a GTS to the collection soon. IMO there is nothing like the rear engine rear drive. Back to basics

I wasn't talking about my Turbo when I mentioned the new car (only when I compared my two cars).
The new Turbo blows away the old stock Turbo unless one intended to modify the old car . Stock to stock the new car is in another league.
With PDK mated to the Turbo boost is maintained in upshifts making the car incredibl;y fast in its stock form. Add to that PTV and all the comfort amenities .. the car will eat a 997S for a snack in just about every category --especially for a street cruizer.
As for the Gt3 --it's a different type of car . It's not a street primary car. The GTS on the other hand is a street friendly car and so is the Turbo.
it's no contest and that's why Porsche even shows it with a 50 K added price. which they do get from buyers eager to own the car.
The C2S is a very nice car and is a lot of fun to drive .. but is in a different league.

Exactly. C'mon, a C2S and a TT are in different leagues. As you would expect $50k to get you. They don't compare. Better off comparing an R8 to a TT, at least they are in the same league (let the flaming begin!).
Larry, a GT3 is not a street car? I can't tell you how many ads I have seen saying "never been tracked"...what have these cars been used for? IIRC you have danced with the idea of a GT3, yet you don't track your cars, what would you use your GT3 for if you bought one?

I would prefer Turbo if not taking to track. I don't care for the aclantra interior on GTS I think the GTS will be a nice end to NA 997 line wish they would have added a tail of some sort on rear end. Would be a killer looking car with Duck Tail
To each his own the GTS will no doubt be a sell out it will be a Rare edition of the 997 that attract plenty of attention.
