Im in the GB, so take this for what its worth. The smoked LED's would look sick with the white, esp with the black top/interior. Sell the red's if you wish or hang on to them if you don't like the led's. My guess is that you could get at least 50-60% of the money back if you decided to sell them later.

if these lights were on the market longer and more feedback on quality was available then it would be worth considering. i used to have LED lights on my hummer and they burnt out like crazy, not to mention i've seen one too many audi's drving around with one half of their LED strip burnt out too. i'll pass.

I'm on the fence too. Maybe at the lower price (which will be the price in 6 months anyway). Do you know the OEM taillights are only $400??? And that's made in Germany! Hate to part with double the money for made in Taiwan and I know LED prices have come down dramatically. Not sure I want to be the early adopter with these. I do admit, they sure look cool though. I always found all red lights funny. Back in the 80s we always replaced all red tail lights with red and amber, which were the Euro taillights at the time. I don't get the appeal of all red.

+1 That is *exactly* how I feel. Personally - they are worth about $500 to me. I'm in at $680 though because I like them and feel better about going with a board sponsor.

I really don't get the all red light thing either. Back in the day I also replaced my all red taillights with either Euro or ROW lights with amber turn signals.

I think the current price i s way overpriced. Hold off for now and wait for 6-9 months and see how cheaply you will be able to pick a pair of these up. Currently, they have too many issues to know if they are going to work as designed even with the transistor mod.

I have a black 997.2 with the red LED lights. Agree with you on the clear lights on white car. It seems also that you will need to change the bumper cover a bit, might not be that interesting financially speaking...

I can't stand it anymore!!!

I finaly have to chip in-- one solution for your fence sitting is to merely convert your current all red tail light units to leds. I did with my 2006 997.1 and they have worked fine for several years. Just install some high quality (Eagle Eye 1), 5 watt dual intensity red led light bulbs with load resistors and you get the benefit of quicker activating tail lights, an LED appearance, and all for about $150. I even converted my tail light units to a 4 lamp stop light array rather than the factory 2 unit (1 stoplight per side) to insure that my brake lights would definetely be seen during the day-- since the led replacement lamps are not as bright as an incandescent (spelling?) bulb. Works for me and it is really unique-- I have never seen another 997 with such an arrangement

Now my secret is revealed and I'm no longer unique in this world!!!

It looks like the price is starting to come down already as more competitors are offering them on ebay. I am staying away from now but if the price comes down below $500 I may have to revisit the idea.

I would also get this bumper to go with those lights: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...er-coming.html
