On the fence... Should I get the aftermarket LED tail lights?
On the fence... Should I get the aftermarket LED tail lights?
The fact that I currently have the all red tail lights does not help my decision. I really like the way the red lights looks on my white car! They compliment the plain look. The Carrera 4S emblem is also painted white.
The aftermarket LED’s only come in standard red/clear and tinted. I think the clear part would clash with the plain look. There would be nothing special about my rear end. The tinted version … well I just don’t think they fit a well with a white Porsche.
Had the price been sub $500 I would buy them in a heartbeat. But at $750 I can think of other ways to spend that money. Like putting it towards my next Porsche in a few years which would come with LED’s built in!
Yet I still have this massive urge that makes me look at them every day and think about it.
Help me off this fence!

i'm in the group buy, so of course I'd like you in so the price potentially comes down a bit
but your set-up right now looks pretty nice, so maybe it might not worth an incremental $750 to be fully honest.

1.
You already lke the looks - and it does indeed look good
2.
You worry about the appearance of the clear LEDS in your Red/white combo...
I say skip it
If indeed you want it, the jump from 500 to 750 is minimal and I do not think you would save it anyways for a few years to put in your new car - I would not buy your price point as a cut off - so
IMHO SKIP IT and look forward to incooperated LEDS in the future car

I also currently have the all red tails, so I faced a tough decision as well. I went ahead and joined the group buy for a set of Red/Clear LED's. I'm hoping we can get to 50, that will bring our price down to $680.00. I say go for it, you only live once!

No way in Hell. The new clear (the ones with the extra clear section) are what looks to be chrome. The full Red you have now fits your white perfectly. Your car is as close to perfect as it gets.
I have all red on mine as well. I guess I am not the only one with the hard decision afterall! I might jump in once the number hits 50. If it doesn't work out you can always turn around and sell it.
Here is another option: Get the led upgrade lights and sell your red lights. I'm sure someone will pay a nice price for your red lights thus making your led upgrade a very inexpensive endeavour.
Just do it! All red or not the 997.1 tail lights look archaic compare to the aftermarket LED and 997.2. Looks way too much like the 996 tails...I think they may make red tail light paint that you may paint over - not sure if I recommend that option though...
Ya man, I would totally do it. Those LED tail lights are all anyone is talking about...very hot right now. Anyone who is anyone has LED tails. I heard there was a new reality show being filmed at Starbucks about LED tails and the cool people that have them. Not
