Painted vs Carbon Fiber center console?

Hello gang!
Just asking for your opinions on what to do with my 997's center console...paint to match exterior color or replace with carbon fiber?
For that matter, I'm trying to decide whether to also paint the seat backs, seat belt "exits"(?), and door handles the exterior color or also go carbon fiber with these items as well?
All opinions/perspectives welcome!

Thanks!!1

Personal preference so go w/ what you like better for appearance and budget wise. CF can be very spendy whereas you could do a decent DIY job on many painted interior pieces w/ paint from paintscratch.com. You can also get painted parts from Eric at Bumperplugs.com as his stuff always looks good.

Know w/ CF you have to be careful about leaving it exposed to too much sun as it will warp. My center console, knock on wood, is fine but I did have the ash tray replaced b/c the lid warped and cracked off. The ~ 1" trim piece across the dash by the windshield defroster is showing a small sign of warping as well but I should be able to get it back down by bracing it this winter during storage...

Good luck

I think you should clarify what color your car is and what color the interior is first

I just checked the pics and it is a lovely color!

CF fades with time, mine did not go as far as cracking... The cars color is a darker tone, and I don't know if black pieces on the interior is a good idea. May just be too dark. What would you think about silver pieces?

If I were you I'd either do exterior color or silver

either way will look nice, with your Stone grey interior, some dark trims will dress it up nicely. Porsche OEM CF trims has the same color fade issue from 996 to 997. We've help couple customers to replace their fade or crack OEM CF trim with ours. Our CF parts added UV protection in resin and it will not fade like OEM. You can check out our website for some CF trims! PM for for any question!

I painted mine . On the white /terracotta car I painted the seat backs and console to the exterior color.
On my blacl/black Turbo I painted the console to match the color of the door handle .

The white 997S -

And here's the Turbo --

WOW!!!
Nice cars Yrralis!
If you don't mind me asking, could you please PM me how much it cost you to do the center console and seat backs? I see you are in South Florida like I am, and I am interested to know what the price would be (roughly) and which body shop you used.
I will probably do a "mix" of painting some components andreplacing some others with carbon fiber.
Also, do you know if there are any regular Porsche club meets in our area? Would really like to check out other cars and hang out with "like-minded" people! LOL!
Thanks!!!

I prefer the painted look. When I bought my car early this year it was a major selling point. I also have carbon fiber trim, I think the combo works well.

Looks like I'll be painting the console, seat backs, door handles and seat belt surrounds. Then I'll be replacing the shifter, handbrake and steering wheel to carbon fiber components. Then other bits and pieces of interior trim with carbon fiber, without overdoing it.
After the interior is done, I'll start to modify the exterior.....but that's the subject for another thread!! LOL!! I think I've acquired the "illness" along with my 997.......
