forgestars or ccw

just thinking about getting second rims set for track and street - CCW is a default choice but I look at forgestars flow formed rims and they look nice price wise and can be ordered in custom offsets (what I need) , but they are not forged - is there any history about those rims having issues?

Did you consider OZ Allegeritas? I'm thinking that's my next set of track rims...

nope. I need 18x9 +50mm (7" backspace), 18x12 +69mm (9.25" backspace).
allegeritas do not exist in such dimensions from what I know. or do they?

They have 18x8.5 w/53mm offset and 18x12 with 51mm offset. I guess you'd have to check if that would still work for you. They are light and inexpensive = $1604 for a set from TireRack!

CCW's are beautifully made and have an excellent reputation, I have yet to see a broken one, I was just about to pull the trigger on a set when I spoke to some local PCA track rats who told me about the Alleggerita's.

I have Alleggerita's with RA1's for the track and I love them, they are light, been solid so far, and cheap enough so I don't care about climbing on curbs.

Talk to Damon at TireRack about sizing. 18x12 sizing seems a little aggressive on a narrowbody C2, are you sure about that size? Do you want to run 335/345's or something? Remember that the wider the rim, the heavier too so if the tires you run will fit on a 11" or 11.5" rim, what is the point to 12" wide...

Do you know what tires you will run on them, maybe that will help narrow down the choices?

That being said, if money was no object, I would have gone CCW... But then, maybe having two sets of OZ (dry/wet) would be better... It never stops.

Regards,

T.

try to find a used set of CCW's on the forum, there used to be a lot for sale towards the end of the summer.

f you just want a set for street, I would suggest keeping CCW's that you have now for the track and getting the Forgestars for the street.

I don't know much about Allegerita's sizes and offsets.
