Newb question: 06 and 07 C2S differences?
Just wondering if their is much difference mechanically between the '06 and '07 C2S?? Im about ready to purchase my first Porshce....hopefully, and have decided on a C2S. The 06-07s are falling in my price range, and Ive found a few failrly low milage examples in my area .
Thanks in advance..
Thanks in advance..
I bought a late '06 and was told that mine had headlight washers and TPM or TPS (tire pressure sensors, can't remember what it is called), which was not standard on earlier versions. Good luck in your purchase.
Mine is a 2006 with a March, 2006 delivery and I had to pay for the TPMS - not long after, it was standard on the car! By the way, somehow 2006 cars that are a bit earlier than mine cannot have X51 as an option; I don't know the cutoff date but mine has X51 and, I believe, has the newer IMS also.

Is there any reason to avoid the initial launch year 2005s?
Thanks.
Not sure if there are other drawbacks.

My 2006 Carrera S had a March, 2006 delivery. It has an M97/01S engine in it (X51) so it has the updated IMS because the X51 option cannot be installed on engine versions earlier than mine.
you certainly can install the system on a 2005. There are two being installed right now, one in Malaysia and the other in Australia.
2007 brought TPMS standard
2008 ECO turned to NO AC
Besides a few options such as X51 and TPMS and maybe a few other details, the biggest difference between the 05 and 06 model year was a re-design of the IMS bearing in the engine. 06 and later model years have a beefy single ROW IMS bearing that is far superior to the duel ROW design on the late 996 model year and first model year of the 997. While this IMS bearing re-design should not deter you from an 05 (since the failure rate is not something I would personally worry about), it is good to consider the fact that engine failure due to IMS bearing failure on 06 and later 997's is virtually un-heard of.
