Gundo hack in Boston

I am looking for an exhaust shop in the greater Boston area that is familiar with doing the “Gundo” hack. I would prefer a place that has done it before so I know they are capable of doing the job right. If you or anyone you know has had this done in the Boston area please let me know where and how much the process cost.
Thanks,
Phil

I have a set of exhausts that I had hacked at a place in exhaust shop Medford. Sounds pretty nice but the job wasn't very pretty, In fact it is pretty ugly. It sounds awesome compared to stock. The guy only charged me 80 bucks to do it. I just removed them from my car before I traded the car in and they're sitting in my garage now.

search for used borla or fabspeed mufflers - i sold mine for $700 or so and it was the typical price, good welding job will be at least half of that and it will ruin gases flow direction in the mufflers resulting in loss of power. why do you need that?

This seems like a kinda strange response. I did mine back in '07 and it costs me two hours and $150 to have the cross over pipes welded. Listen here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vf0NpWNAj78

It does not ruin anything.. that comment is total BS... I live ~ 25 west of boston. If you are interested you are welcome to come by and hear / look before you decide. I am still laughing at the "ruin gas flow" comment

Best,

Matt

Sounds great! Is the hack the only mod or did you modify the intake too?

I'm still debating what to do with my exhaust. I have fabspeed on my 07 now and it doesn't sound as nice as my 06 with the gundo hack exhaust.

I am still looking to do this if someone in the area can recommend a quality shop. It seems like Unlimited Autosport in NY does an AWESOME job but that is a bit far for me. I would prefer it to look like it was done professionally, so the weld should be clean.

If I may make a suggestion, why not pick up a used set and have them sent to Unlimited for welding. Then ask Unlimited to send the set to you for an install in Boston?

That may be my best option. I was thinking that it would be cheaper (or should be at least) if I can find a place local that can do it. I know there is a custom exhaust shop (Lou's Custom exhaust) but am concerned as I don't know about the quality of their work or them working on something that isn't a Honda.

i just shipped a set of mufflers from long island to philadelphia for $34 with UPS ground. So for ~$70 total shipping, you can have the peace of mind that the job was done right. P.S. -unlimited recently did my gundo's and were great to work with. at first i was a bit disappointed with the volume of the gundo's but they seems to have gotten a bit louder over time. may still add awe cats tho

I just purchased a set of used cans off of this board for a fair price, including shipping, and had them sent directly to Fister Dipietro Motorsports out in CA. They'll do their Sport Muffler Modification (think it's the same as Gundo) http://www.fdmotorsports.net/index_files/Page732.htm , give them a nice ceramic coating and then ship them to EPE in Natick who will do the install. Should sound great with my X51 headers and 200-cell cats! If anyone wants to have a listen mid-January or so let me know.
