Question 997 windstop needed ! Help

I just got my 997 C2S cabrio and noticed this used one did not come with a windstop. Now I had cabrios before and they never offered windstops. Parts of me want to ask if they are worth it. I know the answer, try it! Easier said than done.

there are none on ebay for a 997 atm. At Porsche they want close to a 1000$ for one.

anybody has a spare they are not using? would be lovely!

thanks guys,

Andreas

I'd shop around on the Porsche price. Suncoast Porsche (http://www.e-partssales.com )and Sunset Porsche (www.sunsetimports.com) both offer OEM Porsche at a discount. Should be able to get one for under $ 400 which is still a good deal of money but it's not $ 1000. For what it's worth, I have never seen one for $ 1000. AS for the question of it's worth, they're worth every penny if you want to drive at highway speeds with the top down without being blown out of the car. In town, not that big of a deal due to the lower speeds.

110% agree well worth the money....also allows you to have a conversation with the passenger WITHOUT yelling!

I count four 997 windstops/windscreens for sale on USA ebay alone, right now.

If you are a tall driver & need to put the seat all the way back & tilt it, the windscreen will hit the back of the seats & damage their finish. Porsche is aware of this, but never fixed the design blunder. For small drivers, it works great. When stored, it takes up nearly half of the trunk space. A poorly designed & overly complicated product.

Wind Screen

MichaelL is right that the wind screen design is poor (and I'm being generous). At 6'4" it's virtually useless to me. Having said that, after all these years, the design of the car itself is sublime. I really don't find the experience of open-top highway driving unpleasant. Conversation is a bit strained but not impossible, even at speeds of up to 85 mph.
